February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

What is your take on this?

I wonder if they are anticipating a major AQ- (but of course they would know about it) terror attack in the US, which they fear would be followed by a nuclear strike on Iran. Possibly they need to discuss Russia's retaliation on the US.

Remember a few weeks ago when the Russians were "exercising", and Putin or one of the military leaders spoke of the US using WMD?

On the analysis track, it seems the attacks consisted of 13 seperate bombs.

Some of the bombs were intentionally delayed to explode when rescue workers arrived, but were discovered by Law Enforcement and detonated before they exploded.

The timing, multiple locations, and in depth planning associated with this attack is not amateur. These guys really knew what they were doing, and had military training in unconventional warfare.
