February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

Remember the picture of the red liquid on some of those jihad sites? Remember their more recent phrase "rabid Americans". And their statements that it will take us some time to figure out the source of the illness, it will come from somewhere totally unanticipated, and by the time we figure it out it will be too late. Plus, that poster on "the Final Phase"- Wing17- who wrote that Norad is most concerned with a bio attack at this time.

Maybe I'm just a raving paranoiac, but some of this information is really starting to hinge together.

WASHINGTON, Mar 05, 2004 (Washington Times)

David Hale, an economist who specializes in Chinese affairs, said in a recent speech that China has deployed about 4,000 troops to southern Sudan. The troops are there to protect an oil pipeline, Mr. Hale said.

The Chinese presence was first disclosed by South African government officials who told Mr. Hale about the troops during a recent visit to South Africa.

Mr. Hale said the Chinese troops represent a new concern about China. Beijing, starved for energy resources, is likely to become an expansionist power in the coming years as a way to gain access to oil and gas reserves.

In addition to Africa, future energy-related targets for Beijing could include the Russian Far East, which is growing increasingly isolated from central Russia and Southeast Asia, where China, in the past, has made military moves in the South China Sea, where oil and gas deposits are believed to be held.

A U.S. government official familiar with intelligence reports confirmed that there are Chinese in Sudan. However, the official could not confirm that 4,000 Chinese troops are there.

The reported Chinese troop presence in Sudan follows an Internet report several years ago that there were 700,000 Chinese troops in Sudan. That report proved to be false.

I'd love to know what the cause of death was for the 2 divers. I've been wondering if: 1.) they dove too deeply (to lay the mine or whatever) and surfaced too quickly or 2.) possibly whatever they were hauling down there killed them.

The elk: I was reading somewhere that the ones that fell ill were allmost all females and their young.

Two things about the dead elk: First elk are not small animals. If some toxin killed them within this 20 square mile area, imagine what it could do to humans? Second they began findiing these dead elk on February 8th. This morning the number dead was given as 280. They've had almost a month to analyze the toxin. With that number of dead elk, I would think results would be called for post-haste. Yet not a word. Why not?

Testing results thus far appear to be inconclusive according to a Wyoming newspaper:

Laboratory tests and analysis have conclusively ruled out several causes, including chronic wasting disease, some insecticides and a variety of metals, in the mysterious deaths of elk southwest of Rawlins. The death total has grown to 280.

Baltimore Water Taxi Capsizes; 10 Missing

By SARAH BRUMFIELD, Associated Press Writer BALTIMORE - A water taxi carrying 24 passengers capsized Saturday in Baltimore's Inner Harbor during a fierce rain and wind storm, leaving 10 people missing and injuring at least two others, authorities said.

Fire department spokesman Kevin Cartwright said 12 passengers were rescued, and a woman and child were injured. Divers were in the water searching for the 10 missing passengers, Cartwright said.

He said a storm with heavy rain and powerful winds that came through the city at about the time of the accident may have caused the vessel to capsize.

The accident happened at around 4 p.m. about a mile offshore.

The Inner Harbor is one of the nation's oldest seaports and draws millions of tourists every year. Water taxis ferry thousands of visitors each year to the many points on the harbor, including Fort McHenry, Fells Point and the National Aquarium.
