In a letter to Attorney General Bill Lockyer, Schwarzenegger directed the state's top lawyer "to take immediate steps" to get a definitive court ruling declaring the city's actions to be illegal.

""Our civilized society and legal system is based upon a respect for and adherence to the rule of law. The City and County of San Francisco's unfortunate choice to disregard state law and grant marriage certificates to gay couples directly undermines this fundamental guarantee," Schwarzenegger wrote."
The "unfortuante choice" came from this man - who incidentally would be strung up on a wooden stake in the heart of the city if he dared counter the mayor's order to grand gay (mairrage) certificates . .

I wonder what this guy's "orientation" might be?
Those lips look like they are getting ready for some "action".

Can someone from California please explain to me if these judges are elected? I am assuming not, but will reserve judgment on that until I hear. But if they are not elected, this latest act of judicial activism represents a terrible attack on America as a republican form of government. I cannot stand it any longer where judges either ignore state laws to further their own political agenda. They stoop down and dramatically alter society and its norms without being elected by anybody, simply appointments ratified by a legislature. This sort of judicial activism in the US must stop. I believe it is in direct violation of the Constitution.
Conservative judges are made to confirm that they will uphold Roe v. Wade even though they disagree with it and liberal judges create new laws out of wholecloth.
Any freepers please direct me to an organization that is looking to overthrow judicial activism and don't send me to the Republican National Committee, because they're not saying diddly-squat about this latest outrage.

Liberal judges are fascist authoritarians.
They think we'll bow before their linguistic constructs.

I guess that Moby (and the alleged "angry religious conservatives") will have to come up with a different line of attack now.

Looks like the Governator is getting fed up with the blantent law breaking.Ann Coulter was right all along...
"... it must mean something that Schwarzenegger goes around calling himself a Republican... You don't go around calling yourself a Republican in Hollywood to win admiring glances from studio executives. To take a page from the gays' handbook: 'Who would choose this lifestyle? Who would choose to be persecuted, censored and ostracized?'"
