Foreign officials impressed by Chinese Marine Corps

China Marine Corps received visit by Military Attaches of 56 foreign countries to China at a comprehensive training base on Feb. 19. The soldiers amazed the military official delegation with their excellent skills. They have presented military performance to guests from over 60 countries in 20 years.

This article is utter rubbish. It's simply a Chinese communist propaganda organ trumpeting the "accomplishments" of a part of the Chinese military. The US Marines could crush these idiots with one hand tied behind their back.

However good the US Marines are, I think they are professional enough not to underestimate the Chinese military capabilities. I don't think it's wise to think that no matter what, you'll be able to defeat any enemy in your sleep with one hand tied behind your back.

I guess we'll find out eventually, right? Wonder if we'll see them in Panama.

Their ridiculous blue camoflauge don't seem to be doing its job very well... Instead of blending in with their surroundings, they stand out. Easy targets.

I think the last time we used boats like those for an amphibious assault, Warren G. Harding was president.

I love this picture. He looks like he's suppressing his laughter.

Unfortunately, unable at present to access article (to see if it is utter rubbish) or view the pictures posted from the article due to tighten firewalls (thanks criminal hackers).

You can be assured that the US Marines would very professionally assess the capabilities of the Chinese Marine Corps if call to engage them in combat. However, such an engagement would violate the "Marines don't fight Marines" dicta that informally governs the fraternal relations between sea soldiers of various countries in modern times. You may recall that this was somewhat of a concern during the Falklands War when it appeared that the Royal Marines would be called on to assault Argentine Marines defending Mount Stanley (?). In the end, the Gurkas were sent in. So the dicta held. (Not that the substitution made things go any easier on the Argentines!)

Er, Cap, didn't US Marines fight Japanese Marines during WWII ? I honestly ask the question, because I made the mistake of lending my copy of John Costello's "War of the Pacific" to a friend of mine last week.

Yes, but keep in mind these small boats are certainly not the vessels that brought the MBTs and infantry carriers, though...

It's simply a Chinese communist propaganda organ trumpeting the "accomplishments" of a part of the Chinese military.

Like the old Soviet tours of the past, showing off selected people and places, all the while extolling the superiority of the communist state.

The day glo is telling. Poor equipment to the individual soldier/marine...and yes, nice targets as well.

Correct. That's why the sentence said "However, such an engagement would violate the "Marines don't fight Marines" dicta that informally governs the fraternal relations between sea soldiers of various countries in modern times." Perhaps I should have written it "in post-WWII times" instead.

No, no, I guess I should have seen the emphasis on "modern times". Sorry for the redundant question !

If you knew that someday you might meet an advisary on the battlefield and you had the opportunity to review his abilities and provide feedback, would you tell him he was going to get his ass kicked in the future?
