Let's assume it is established as a fact that Kerry had an affair with her when she was roughly 23. Assuming it was consensual, that she was not on her staff, and that no other aggravating circumstances emerge, what are the implications for his campaign?

What if the affair took place in 1999 and 2000 when she was an undergrad at Clark U. and was an intern in his Worcester Mass, office? Don't buy the 2001 affair year the media is throwing out right now. They got her age wrong at first and they most likely have the years of the affair wrong, too.

The implication of the campaign will be Kerry's comments on Clinton's impeachment at the same time of his own affair...

Assuming it was consensual, that she was not on her staff, and that no other aggravating circumstances emerge, what are the implications for his campaign? Let's make a different assumption. A politician fools around with young stuff. While morally repulsive, it may not be fatal in the post-Clinton era. But the leaks have clearly pointed to something more - "shocking" and "nastier". What could that be?
kink?
an abortion?
what else?

I suppose the biggest implication might be that, since Kerry has categorically denied the affair, he would be shown to be a liar. Of course the press would then revert to its "everyone lies about sex" defense.

The implications are these: Yes it's true that Klintoon got a pass, both before and after he was elected. However, I don't think the mushy middle, (those who decide the elections) are willing to go through that again. If true, this will toast him. Either way, landslide in '04.
