So that analysis would give credence then to the belief that this story was being marketed to keep the spotlight off of his record...his whole record...

Your analysis goes along with the first reports of the story that Time Boston Globe, etc., were sitting on reports of Kerry's women.

The first we'd heard of this was a few weeks ago when Estrich said on H&C that he had a Clinton type problem with his zipper. It's reported that LeHane shopped the story for two years, Clark dropped it to reporters and then Drudge picked it up. When Lehane shopped it Gore eliminated Kerry as his VP in 2000 (see original Drudge)

Should this turn out to be a Kerry campaign planted story they may have an unexpected problem with women turning up in the Euro press who are all over the story. He just may have a few lumps under his bed covers that do not belong to Ms Heinz.

"The concentration on the Monica Lewinski scandal, rather than the wrong-headed policies of the Clinton Administration, cost the Republicans in both 1998 and 2000"

The Monica Lewinski Scandal....is shorthand for a President who perjured himself in front of a grand jury and lied to a Federal Judge..........and was rightly impeached in the House for it...............I don't think anyone that knows the history of the case forgets that. It's the LIBS and other misinformed idiots who have always said "it's all about sex and affairs".

What about Alex's girlfriend who supposedly leaked this story? Who is she? Where is she? Didn't she claim there were letters? She seems to have conveniently disappeared from the story. This whole thing is too vague and unsourced to take seriously at this point.

I saw the "story" about the parents who say that maybe Kerry hit on their daughter. Is that the way that Matt Drudge sold this "story" to you? Did he tell you that, if a moderate to liberal journalist decides that she may want to help Bush and dump Kerry that she might in the end tell you that he made a pass at her?

Matt Drudge took a lot of you for a long ride off of a short pier. If you were the lawyer for any one of those networks, you would have insisted on a lot more before you decided to drown the nation's viewers in pictures and Matt Drudge promises concerning this young woman.

"How about a flat out denial on camera?"

Yep. According to reports, there are plenty of media types in vans camped out in front of her place in Kenya.

It was going with the flow of the thread, almost like that is the stipulation by which half of this discussion is flowing. I've responded a few times in the same way. Obviously, if the letter is not Polier's, then comments about it being her letter are irrelevant and wrong.

One woman in Kenya denies having had an affair with Kerry? If it were a Republican at the center of the controversy, the press wouldn't let up until all 16 million women and girls in Kenya had sent letters denying having had an affair with him.

From where do you glean the info that she has sent a letter?

Umm, from the title and body of this thread???

Didn't he flee to Africa, too?

Exactly.

Don't forget her parents, the dad in particular calling Kerry a sleazeball.

I don't pretend to know what is going on here, but to state she's acted "credibly" is bizarre. We have no idea how she's acted.

Right. All I've said is under the assumption that this is true, that this is her letter.

Drudge has sold me nothing. What are you talking about?

"Matt Drudge took a lot of you for a long ride off of a short pier."

LOL! We bow before your wisdom.

I've yet to see anybody accept the story as gospel--including Drudge.

There is no denying that media outlets were pursuing the story. Which is what Drudge reported.

Save your self-righteous for when you might be right.

I agree with just about everything you said, except for the insinuation that Rove or the Bushies are pushing it. I see exactly the opposite.

I assure you that I do not think that Rove is pushing this. That was not my point. I was commenting on some of our friends in this thread, who are too full of it. The explosive growth of this thread is my evidence that some would like to push it. My advice is to our friends, here, at Free Republic.

Karl Rove, to me, has become pure and total liability. I have no interest whatsoever in giving him advice, free or otherwise.

Again, my comments were intended to get people, here, to see the points on which you and I agree.

See my post #135. My comment about Rove was not in the context of this story, but in the context of explaining why I could be an objective observer of this thread.
