DENNIS MILLER SHOW - THURSDAY NIGHT

Anyone watch his program last night? I watched it for about the first 20 minutes or so. He had Scott Ritter on and basically - how I saw it - read him the riot act concerning Iraq and Saddam. Basically said that yeah, you have a job to do and a charter to do it under, but once you observe and witness first hand children in prison and torture, than the charter goes out the window and you have to do the right thing. Ritter kept on going on about saving lives and other bs. I thought Miller nailed him good on the going it alone bs.

I don't watch it all the time...when I do, Dennis often takes a position that I don't agree with. For example he had Barney Frank on and they both thought homosexual marriages were OK. Barf.

I don't need to agree with someone 100%, but with DM show I find myself more in agreement with the monkey.

You would think that at least someone on Fox would play a tape showing him warning us about Iraq. Are you saying that he is pretending that he never warned us about the danger at all and he never thought Iraq was a threat? That could so easily be disproven.

Your assessment is perfect. I saw it, and Ritter went on and on producing pretty good, reasonable thought. Dennis was just left to resort to a plea for more sensitivity from Ritter. But Dennis was in a tough spot. I'm rooting for his show, but to me, he needs an audience. When they pan away to commercials and shoot the stagehands and cameramen, Dennis' show takes on the look of some kind of weird science experiment being observed by a few strange scientists. But, I like Dennis and his humor and his heart.

By the way, the night before he was weak on the Kerry VVAW activities and Congressional testimony when Kerry came back from Vietnam, leading me to write this e-mail to his show:

I'm one of your biggest fans, and I thank you for your wisdom. Your intelligent wit and insight is beyond most others.

As a very involved Conservative Republican and a FreeRepublic guy, I and thousands of others have been rooting for the success of your new show. You are needed for America's health and well-being. But, I have a bone to pick -- yesterday you basically gave Kerry a pass for his VVAW activities after he got back from Vietnam. Either you aren't as smart as I thought you were (and that's not true), or you are conned on this subject.

You totally discounted the effect on his post-Vietnam behavior. His activities aided the morale of the enemy, and it is possible that those activities caused many more American deaths. As some have said, "Joining the antiwar movement was possibly the worst thing Kerry could have done to the soldiers still in the field. Kerry basically gave aid and comfort to the enemy."

Dennis, I don't want to go into detail on this, but you must know of the veracity of all this. Let me tell you, I was a guy who had finished up at Pitt (Economics) and just finished my time in the Army Security Agency in 1970. I thought I was smart enough then, and I became quite anti-Nixon and anti-war. I didn't demonstrate, but I was ideologically anti-war. But even then I wasn't insightful enough to see the damage that the anti-war demonstrations were doing to the war effort, and subsequently, our soldiers. Even more, I didn't consider the POSITIVE EFFECT the American anti-war demonstrations had on the North Vietnamese.

Kerry's testimony before Congress was one of the most destructive things he could have done. For you to apparently not see this on yesterday's show was hard to understand. What's up? Please answer this 'Stiller' fan.

Don't think from this one criticism that I think any less of you. You are the man, and you are important to this country's future. You have been a ray of welcome sunshine in the darkness of the liberal media and Hollyweird. Hoping to hear from you. Give a 'Pittsburgh Hello' to your hairy cohort on the show.

I saw parts of it. I find Ritter intolerable and disgusting to watch/listen to for any length of time, so I kept switching channels. I thought - for as much of it as I saw - that Miller was using more restraint than usual. I wanted him to really let loose on this guy, but he didn't while I was watching.

It's true, Miller represents so many who have changed since 9-11, the Dems need to wake up and smell the coffee. I guess I missed the parts where he let loose on Ritter. That won't happen again. I wonder if his producers made him try to 'play nice'?

I am impressed with the way Miller asks a question. There is no boot-licking deference in his manner. I almost expected him to ask Ritter about the 14 year FBI agent he met at Burger King.

I saw it. Ritter is a Saddam loyalist thru and thru. He's been paid off. His anti American rhetoric is too much to stomach. He says - Ha! No WMD were found, like we've left the country and will look no more.

They will be found and make all these clymers look like the schmucks they are.

Miller did ask him that. Asked Ritter about being extremely WMD in 1998 and why the turnaround. Ritter gave this long round about nonanswer. When he started disrespecting the soldiers/marines there now, Miller got a little upset. What was Ritter? A Major or Colonel? He acts like he was privy to every secret concerning Iraq. He also came across as a butt boy for the UN. UN first, United States somewhere down the line. Also dismissed the fact that other nations are there - claimed they are not relevant.

Sean Hannity is a complete idiot. The other day he was talking to George Will and I wondered allowed to my wife, that after talking to Hannity, if George Will felt the need to mental floss his brain by watching several hours of science programs. Hannity seems to have no historical knowledge of the past, he is too boot licking when a Dem comes on his program, he constantly talks about himself and his tours, and I cannot stand the way he flirts with women who call up.

A good post and email. You should have added that due to acts such as Kerry, Fonda, et al, Adm. Stockdale was kept longer in the bamboo cage than necessary. He admires the hell out of Stockdale.

The change in Dennis Miller

After watching him for the first two weeks of his show I have to agree with you BUT with a caveat. While I do believe his conversion to pro Bush (on the war) as being authentic, I see it as a mile wide but an inch deep. He doesn't have any solid arguments for being pro war, most of them are emotional. He is definitely still a far lefty in most other matters.

You can't go to war just for human rights reasons. Miller didn't have a good retort when Scott Ritter talked about how there aren't the WMD in Iraq that were said to be there and were given as the reason to be there. Miller talked about how that Ritter should use softer language because Ritter said the war was illegitimate and the families of the soldiers might be emotionally hurt by Ritter's comments. Miller's show is so awful. I had such high hopes for it.

Yeah, I heard that Hannity interview of Will and I think Hannity wa sjust afraid of being made to look like an uneducated moron so he kept cutting Will off. Of course, he had about 10 plugs of his book per minute.

I'm sure George Will gave a crap.

Hannity has been developing this new laugh that sounds SO fake...it is hilarious.

I don't think he's much of a thinker and he repeats himself constantly, but his book "Let Freedom Ring" is excellent, very clear thinking. I had a hard time believing he actually wrote it.
