assure greater homeland securityNow how will this assure greater homeland security?
Will these illegals all use legitimate ID's? No.
Will legitimizing these illegals stop more illegals from coming in? No.

One by one, the officials and the senators told the Senate Judiciary subcommittee on immigration, border security and citizenship that the Bush plan, outlined Jan. 7, would.... bring illegal aliens into the mainstream economy This is actually listed as an objective. Unbelievable.

Sufficient resources to guarantee increased border security and interior enforcement, along with added penalties for employers who hire illegal aliens and for foreign nationals illegally in the country who do not work.This is what it all comes down to for me. We will what they do with this.

Can we just shut the congress down till election day. They keep on passing this kind of crap and Bush will lose big in Nov. Not necessarily the dems have a good candidate but the conservatives are so p'eeved that they sit home and watch foxnews instead of going out to vote. What is wrong with Bush!

Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republican, said America's borders would not be secure "until we supply willing employers with willing workers," while Sen. Larry E. Craig, Idaho Republican, said the "only way" to solve the nation's immigration problem was to "create a dynamic program that recognizes the need for foreign nationals to come to this country to work."
Looks like McStain and Craig are the only senators to sign off on the amnesty.

A guest-worker program for foreign nations in the United States who have temporary jobs, as long as they do not displace U.S. workers.
Yes, just like you did with the H1B visa program !!

I'm glad to see them getting started on this proposal. If they're going to get the positive political impact, it has to be timed right for the elections.

======================================================
Guys, Names of officials and the BLATANT LIE they are advocating. This proposal does the EXACT opposite of what the bottom line avers. ESPECIALLY the "compassionate" part. The proposal will create disharmony, bad feelings among workers, even hatred toward illegal workers and even all "hispanics" by some who see differences by skin shade. Compassion?? It might be a temporary feel good for the "elite", but "Promote compassion"{?}, NEVER. Peace and love, George.

The administration rolled out its top immigration officials and several senior Republican senators yesterday to endorse publicly a guest-worker program offered by President Bush that could give legal status to the 8 million to 12 million illegal aliens now in the United States. One by one, the officials and the senators told the Senate Judiciary subcommittee on immigration, border security and citizenship that the Bush plan, outlined Jan. 7, would fix a broken immigration system, allow U.S. businesses to hire needed workers, bring illegal aliens into the mainstream economy and assure greater homeland security. Bump!

Get a load of this dung pile from the GOP.

There is no backbone to deport even those convicted of crimes today, how will this be when even more illegals come here, or those that are required to leave within the constructs of the "guest worker" policy??????. The media searches for the single incidences of illegals acting in an honorable fashion(like joining the military) but leave out the reporting of the thousands that are in our jails for felonies. I for one would like to know how an illegal alien is allowed to join the military in the first place, and why he is not booted for lying.......The first act, supercedes all subsequent ones..IMO.

life."
Kennedy likes it, the only reason anyone should need to oppose it.
