Harold Ford Threatens GOP Over Fonda-Kerry Photo

Rep. Harold Ford, D-Tenn., who was one of Democratic presidential front-runner John Kerry's earliest backers in Congress, went ballistic Wednesday morning when asked about the photo published Monday by NewsMax.com showing Kerry demonstrating against the Vietnam war with "Hanoi" Jane Fonda.

"Don't bring that up," an angry-sounding Ford told "Fox & Friends" co-host Steve Doocy.

Referring to the controversy over President Bush's military record, Ford threatened to "revive this thing on the National Guard" if questions about Kerry's Jane Fonda connection persist.

The Tennessee Democrat attempted to defend Kerry's decision to team up with Fonda after she adopted his group, Vietnam Veterans Against the War, as her leading cause.

"For someone who went over there and almost gave his life, [Kerry] pretty much can say whatever the heck he wants to say, in my book," he told "Fox & Friends."

But in an audio clip played by top radio host Rush Limbaugh Wednesday afternoon, Ford continued to seethe over the photo picturing his candidate with the Vietnam War traitor.

"If you want to show pictures of him with Jane Fonda and other things, then the president ought to produce all the evidence [about his Guard service]," he railed.

Although it was not clear whether he was speaking for Kerry, Ford offered to cut a deal in a bid to halt discussion over Kerry's relationship with "Hanoi" Jane.

"I'm willing to put all of [Bush's Guard record] aside and not bring any of that up ... but you better do the same with John Kerry," proposed Ford. "It's clear where [Kerry] was [during the early 1970s] And at this moment it's unclear where the president was."

The congressman urged the GOP to keep its focus on the issues that are important to America's future rather than rehashing irrelevant details from Sen. Kerry's past.

He's just mad because their phoney dirt on the president has blown away before their eyes.

"Ford offered to cut a deal in a bid to halt discussion over Kerry's relationship with "Hanoi" Jane. "

Cut a deal? With who... the entire informed, conservative and republican population? No deal! We will treat your candidate with the same discretion that YOU would use with ours.

"I'm willing to put all of [Bush's Guard record] aside and not bring any of that up ... but you better do the same with John Kerry,"

How big of you....especially since you don't have a d**n thing on Bush. Stupid jerkoff!

Hmmm. Even "young" Kerry looks like he needs botox.

God! is he ugly, even as a young man. What a weird face and expression.

Brit's wrong on this one. I suspect the Republicans are showing great forebearance to prevent giving the Dems a premature case of "buyer's remorse". Once Kerry is the candidate, it'll be a live-fire zone.

I hope that you are right and it is just a case of keeping your powder dry

The thing is that his anti-war attitude will probably endear him to the the idiot democrats.

Well, you gotta admit one thing: Kerry appears more clean shaven than Jane.

Shouldn't you and others be addressing this question to Kerry instead of to Registered? Kerry's the one who was there.

"do not underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups (ie. the Democrat Party and Democrat voters). That is what these stupid charges are all about."

That is what it's about at the receiving end. At the putting put end is the notion that if you repeat a lie long enough and loud enough, people will believe it is true and the real truth becomes irrelevant.

Sure looks like the entire democrat leadership are a bunch of dictator lovers and terrorist sympathizers. Makes me wonder why they participated in any ceremonial event related to IX-XI.

Hehehe....I think they need to use this somehow in the president's ads....maybe not the official ones, but someone should use it. It's not like the RATs wouldn't. What was that about Bush and Hitler? I guess it's only fair when THEY do it.

MANY months ago, there was a thread on who would be the nominee in 04 ... I couldn't decided if it would be Edwards/Clinton or Clinton/Edwards. I'll go for Edwards/Clinton ...

"So what was the excuse when we were told in 1992 that Clinton's draft-dodging and protests in a foreign country were off-limits?"

And why are we taking marching orders from mangey RATs anyway? Just like Chelsea was off limits...and yet, what did the scumsucking press do as soon President Bush was in office? They set out to smear his girls. I say turnabout's fair play. What's that saying about not taking a knife to a gunfight? We need to knock these b*st*rds down so far they won't even remember which way is up.

D'oh! False alarm on that "too good to be true" photo of Hanoi Jane & Hanoi John together. It's a FAKE! See #233 and #235.

Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent ‘miscellaneous’ ping list.

"There's no Ross Perot this time..."

Doesn't matter. If this country has deteriorated enough that we could get saddled with that albatross, Clinton, then there are enough stupid people and illegal votes out there to "elect" Kerry.

Same stunt Pryor pulled in Arkansas.
