bump!

President Bush may not pursue every policy we hold dear, but his job right now is to present a foreign policy in clear terms, gain a consensus, and them reap the vote -- a full mandate. If he succeeds in doing that, then we can hope for other things. But polls prove that he has to be careful, and I support that caution with respect to domestic policy if it helps him get the vote.

There was an element of directness in his replies to Tim Russert that we can all claim as 100% democratic. He was asking the American people to support his point of view distinctly in opposition to other, less resolute positions. We have the choice. In November, 2004 we will decide as a nation: do we stand or fall? Choosing Bush will mean an opportunity for another thriving 225 years for our republic. A choice for a Dean or Kerry will put us at immediate risk for steady collapse.

In his interview with Russert, President Bush clarified what our choices are, and I'm sure that as he continues to campaign they will become even more clear. This in great contrast to the accusations that he is a manipulative and deceitful leader. I would characterize other candidates who have said the war on terror is an exaggeration in those terms instead!

Great summation! Well said!

We have the choice. In November, 2004 we will decide as a nation: do we stand or fall? Choosing Bush will mean an opportunity for another thriving 225 years for our republic.

Worth repeating.

At one point in the interview Bush said he didn't mean to sound like a broken record...but Russert spent the first 20 minutes asking the same question over and over agasin. If Bush was a broken record he was not the only broken record in the room. I thought Bush did fine.

I thought he did fine, too. I was surprised to read Peggy Noonan's column linked on Drudge just now, saying she was "not impressed." I usually like her, but I honestly think she's wrong - and sometimes, these pundits really are wrong. I remember Juan Williams saying he thought Howard Dean did great in some Dem debate I saw, when I thought Dean was just HORRIBLE. Soon after that, Dean's numbers plummeted. BY contrast, I think GW really did a good job here, and his numbers should reflect that.

What exactly is it that you think we don't understand?

You're still caught up in the moment. You just don't understand, do you?

I sincerely doubt there's any "caught up in the moments" going on here, except for those who forget what the Rat President, Klintoon, did: turn away OBL, who was handed to him on a silver platter; pardoning of terrorists; gutting our military; crippling our CIA; allowing AQ to walk, scott free, over the bombing of the Cole and other murders; semen stains on blue dresses; impeachment because of lying, under oath; and the beginning of the recession.......all under his "watch."

Not only is Klintoon's legacy the WTC which no longer stands, but he's become the most immoral role model one could follow, especially as a president. We wouldn't be where we are at now had it not been for his "caught up in the moments."

Summer, I'm reposting this from another thread. Has some info you and ALL the others here might want to digest, Very Best FReegards, Defender2 D2

Enough is Enough!!!! President Bush early in his young carrer served with the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, 147th Fighter Interceptor Group, Aerospace Defense Command(ADCOM) Gained/Air National Guard unit tasked as part of Our Air Defenses at the time with F-102A/TF-102A Interceptor aircraft pulling Air Defense Alert Duty as part of Our Nation's then Prevalent Air Defense. At the same time, the 147th Fighter Interceptor Group was also partly responsible for training F-101B/F A.N.G Interceptor Pilots initially assigned to other ADCOM/ANG assinged Air Defense Units. The President today, said His unit was assigned was assigned to Aerospace Defense Command.

The Last "True To The Faith" Air Defense Commander, General Daniel "Chappie" James was appointed to NORAD/ADCOM C in C
status by then President Gerald R. Ford in 1973. The U.S. Congress(Democratically controlled at the time) and Then President James Carter fired general James in 1978 as General James was Adamantly fighting to keep Our Nation's Air Defense (ADCOM) intact as a Major Direct Reporting Unit in the U.S. Air Force. President Carter appointed "Yes Man", General James E. Hill as General James Replacement. Aerospace Defense Command was abolished, 1 september, 1979. Thus the seeds of September 11th, 2001 were planted!!!!

Many lessons some of which were learned by the English during WWII, including Air Vice Marshall Kieth Park's, "Two Minute Scramble" lesson during the Battle of Britain where many of Our Air Defense were lessons were learned, were subsequently thrown away!!!!

Air Defense continued to Dwindle under President William Jefferson Clinton to the point where under 10 Air Defense Sites on duty at the time of September 11th, 2001. Also Under President Clinton, Strategic Air Command and Tactical Air Command were abolished and assets were then assigned to the new austere Air Combat Command. While Our Defenses were cut to the bone. The Pork Barrels rolled in Congress and we gave millions to rogue nations we face as possible adversaries today.

President Bush Served Honorably in Our Nations Air Defense.

As a 28 year Veteran of the U.S.A.F. recently returning from Afghanistan and who also Devotedly served in Our Nation's Air Defense Command, I am Very Proud To Call President George W. Bush as my "Commander in Chief"!!!!

I thank the Lord Above for Him and so should
ALL of America. In these trying times We ALL have been Blessed with his Presidency!!!!

***The President is living in the past. he won't let go of 9/11, 2001 and the immediate leadership it demanded. If he refuses to listen to the American people from coast to coast calling to stop the flow of illegals and the hemorrhaging of jobs overseas and the wild spending spree, he will be given the privilege to "lead the parade" back to Texas after his first and only term***

The ultimate goal of the terrorists is to either convert us all to their religion, and if they can't do that, to KILL us all. It is what their religion dictates. They will continue to try to reach this goal, no matter how long it takes. It has been going on for generations, and it's not going to stop.

President Bush IS dealing with illegal aliens! Previous administrations did not, and he is at least proposing a solution. Not everyone will agree with it, there will be compromises, but he is at least ATTEMPTING to deal with it! Give him a little time--he cannot solve everything in just three years.

I thought Russert was very rude to President Bush. But I thought the President handled it very well. He insisted on finishing his point, even when Russert interrupted with another question. He made his point over and over again, calmly, when Russert continued to ask the same question over and over again, getting progressively more hostile.

President Bush showed his true colors of character and consistency and calmness. He did a great job!

***Russert is the same as any other reporter. Russert is biased to Russert and making himself look good.***

IMO, Russert made himself look rude and very biased to the Left.

"I hope this thread stays in Breaking News for those who just want to read the transcript.

I thought GW did a great job here.

===

I find it sad, that the post with the link to the transcript of the interview with President Bush, posted by summer was relegated to extended news. True, this only gave a link, but then I posted the full text as Front Page News, which in turn was relegated to "Miscellaneous"

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1074055/posts

I think that at least something with Bush's speech would merit at least Front Page news status.

But I guess, I am just biased.
