I recall reading it on Thread II, but didn't give the thought a lot of credence. I still don't. Why waste a nuke on an untested theory with uncertain results, when you can blow a nuke up in Mid-Town Manhattan and pretty much wipe out a large chunk of the largest city in the United States and kill perhaps a 100,000 people or more with near certainty.

People left offices across the region, as tremors were felt in the Jordanian capital Amman and as far away as the Lebanese capital Beirut.

Exactly. I believe our own scientists (with much better resources, education and funding) attempted triggering an earthquake using nukes with undesirable results. They didn't trigger one or if they did, a very small one with a fairly large nuke. I can't exactly remember. Although they said the possibility is there, it's a very small one. It's possible if they had several placed on very precise points (from another article I read) but I'm not sure they would risk that. If AQ heads are as smart as some make them out to be, I would figure they did their homework. I figure it would be the same with a volcano. Plus if Yellowstone goes off again (they should know this as well) it would not just destroy America, but the entire globe over time. I think even attempting this would be a HUGE gamble on their part, something I would figure the "well-educated" heads of AQ wouldn't take. I emailed the head scientist at Yellowstone about it after reading the discussion before, I could post his response here if anyone wants.
