SANAA, Yemen, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A purported statement by al-Qaida in Yemen warned Saturday of a "major strike" soon in the United States.
The statement, distributed by the Yemeni Tagamoo Party for Reforms, said: "A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," reminiscent of the Sept. 11 attacks.

IMO, North Korea, Iran and Pakistan are the most pressing areas of concern. (Though no doubt Russia and China are involved behind the scenes.) I fear that AQ may be planning to launch a big one on our troops in Iraq, and simultaneously try to launch "big ones" in Britain and the US.
I'm going to go bulletin board hunting for awhile- one of the boards I scanned- survivalism type stuff- was talking about a rumor regarding subs in the Gulf of Mexico being up to something. I couldn't get to the discussion because I'm not a member, and the posts were moved to a private discussion area- interestingly, called "The Bomb Shelter."

YUCCA MOUNTAIN: Probe of tunnel notes ordered
Energy Department may expand investigation beyond altered records of workers' exposure to harmful dust
By STEVE TETREAULT and KEITH ROGERS
REVIEW-JOURNAL
WASHINGTON -- Energy Department officials have initiated an investigation into whether Yucca Mountain Project field notes were altered to misrepresent tunnel workers' exposure to harmful silica dust.
The request is expected to form a base for a broader probe into worker health conditions during early excavation and peak tunneling at the nuclear waste repository site a decade ago, Energy Department officials said Thursday.

STEPHENS WASHINGTON BUREAU
WASHINGTON -- Energy Department officials were aware of potentially hazardous silica at Yucca Mountain from early studies but did not enforce health protections until after workers had excavated a large portion of the site, according to a letter made public Wednesday.

Yes, I'm willing to bet SA has nukes. It was troubling to read that they cut the USA out of a favorable deal recently, in favor of Russia and China.
Incidently, I just looked at the bulletin board called (Timebomb 2000). Some one there just posted that there was a huge explosion in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Anyone know anything about that here?

Baby bathtubs.
Dish Pans (so that is where mine went!)
A sunny window, a bag of Walmart PRO Potting soil/mix.
Grow mixed lettuce, mustard, tomatoes, peppers, swills chard and all the oriental vegetables.
make it the varieties that you can pinch a few leaves and let it keep growing.
tomatoes and peppers are good for a couple years growth, make it the plain old cherry tomato. To pollinate, just shake the plant, or as pictured in a fancy greenhouse book, use your personal vibrator on the plant... Yes, it was in the picture.
If you have a regular onion that has sprouted, (it is time), pot it up in soil, it will split into 4 onions and you can use the leaves as chives, just pinch them off.
In the days when I could still garden, I would buy the bags of onion sets and put in pots for green onions.

AGREED!! Paki nukes on Chinese missile (they've had them since the late 80's) operated by Paki crews seconded to Saudi.
Far fetched? Not when you consider Paki Air Force pilots flew for the Jordanian, Egytian and some claim Syrian forces in their battles against Israel.
Risk had some interesting sites.

Workers like Craig Hall have contracted chronic diseases in the cleanup effort at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, a site dotted with drums of nuclear waste.
Lack of Safety Is Charged in Nuclear Site Cleanup
By SARAH KERSHAW and MATTHEW L. WALD
Published: February 20, 2004
RICHLAND, Wash. For almost half a century, the hulking factories across a vast nuclear reservation here churned out the plutonium for most of the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile, including the bomb used on Nagasaki.
But in the last several years, with the cold war long over, the shuttered silence of the nine nuclear reactors on this 586-square-mile site has been followed by one of the world's largest cleanups, costing $2 billion a year.
An army of workers numbering more than 11,000 faces the staggering cleanup task at the Hanford complex in the high desert of southeastern Washington, a project made more daunting with an accelerated timetable that slashed cleanup projections to 35 years from 70. The quicker pace has led to charges among some doctors, experts and lawmakers that speed has taken priority over worker health and safety. And some warn that, in its dormancy, the vast wasteland may pose even more danger to the cleanup workers than it did to those who built the nation's arsenal here when the complex was in full operation.

FYI Important Program to watch ! Every day illegal immigrants stream into the U.S. Some come from known terrorist havens like Libya, Pakistan and Iran. Are they looking for a better way of life or a way to destroy ours?
Hosted by FNC's Linda Vester this edition of "Breaking Point" airs on Sunday, February 22 at 9 p.m. ET & re-airs at 12 a.m. ET!
Since September 11, 2001 more than two million illegal aliens have been caught trying to sneak across our borders into the United States. Most of the people apprehended have been Mexican Nationals looking for work, but in 2002, about 8,000 of the illegals arrested were special interest aliens. What's that term mean? It means that they were from countries with known ties to terror, people from countries like: Libya (search), Pakistan (search), and Iran (search). There is an endless stream of foreigners, impossible to identify, flooding into the United States, and Americans living on the frontline are concerned. Are these people looking for a better way of life or a way to destroy ours?
The immigration problems at our border with Mexico are well publicized, but there is another country that may pose an even greater threat to the national security of the United States. Why? Because it has become a safe haven for about 50 terrorist organizations, including Al Qaeda. But we arent talking about Syria (search), we are talking about Canada, our friend and trading partner to the north. And with over 4000 miles of border between us to protect, the possibilities are frightening.
"The Terrorists Next Door" is another in an important series of investigative documentaries brought to you by the staff of the Fox News Channel. Don't miss it this Sunday evening at 9 p.m. ET and 12 a.m. ET.

Just saw this over at "It's Happening". (Incidentally, Daleel has not posted there in two days- that is also what Cindy is saying- also many of the jihad forums are down. I wonder if this is a GOOD sign, or a WORRISOME one.)
Anyway, here's the post:
Pentagon to receive Escape Masks
By Jim Garamone
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, Feb. 20, 2003 -- Every person on the Pentagon reservation will receive "escape masks" in the event the building is attacked again, DoD officials said today.
"(Secretary Rumsfeld) is concerned about the safety of this office building, this command center, this place we call the Pentagon," said Ray DuBois, director of Washington Headquarters Services, which oversees the 208-acre Pentagon reservation.
DuBois and acting director of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency John Jester spoke about the steps taken to protect the employees in the Pentagon and the 40-plus leased buildings that WHS services.
DuBois said the need to protect the Pentagon was brought home on Sept. 11, 2001.
"With everything that is going on in the world, it's probably reasonable -- and certainly sensible -- to assume we may be targeted again," he said. "No one really knows when or how or under what circumstances. But we do know that if such an attack has a level of probability, then we all have an obligation to know what to do."
A force protection specialist prepares to don the new "escape mask" to be issued in coming weeks to all DoD military and civilian personnel and contract employees who work on the 204-acre Pentagon reservation. The demonstration came Feb. 20, 2003, when Defense Department officials held an open meeting with workers to discuss safety and security measures taken at the Pentagon since the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Photo by Jim Garamone. (Click photo for screen-resolution image.)
Between 23,000 and 24,000 people work on the Pentagon reservation. Because it is the nation's military command center in addition to being an office building, it is manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Washington Headquarters Services has bought 80,000 escape masks. Force protection employees will train people on how to wear the masks and start issuing them to employees by the end of February.
Employees will keep the masks in their desks. Thousands of other masks will be stashed strategically around the building for those who are away from their offices when an incident occurs and for visitors. Others will be stockpiled outside the building for contractors working on the Pentagon Renovation Project.
DuBois and Jester went over other changes made in Pentagon force protection and talked about the changes yet to come. The biggest change was establishing the Pentagon Force Protection Agency and beefing it up with people and money.
Jester said the Pentagon police force launched an ambitious new hiring program and expects to jump to 900 officers, up from 300 before Sept. 11. He said the Pentagon force salary and benefits are competitive with any police force in the Washington area, and the agency is already training 75 new recruits.
Second, the chief discussed the layered defense that has been put in place since Sept. 11. Defense begins at the roads leading to the Pentagon, continues at the parking lots and subway and bus stops, and includes a new ring around the building now manned by a battalion of Army military police.
He said changes have been made at the entrances to the Pentagon and special response teams have been added. Jester spoke specifically about the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Response Teams that monitor the atmosphere of the Pentagon and are ready to respond if such an event occurs.
Communications plays a huge role in any response. DuBois said the agency has learned from the events of Sept. 11 and has placed a public address system in all 17 miles of corridors in the Pentagon and outside the building.
The agency also has a computerized warning system that flashes on personal computers throughout the building. DuBois said it is important for employees to heed that communication. In this new world, it's not like the fire drills of the past, he said. In some instances, it may be appropriate to stay put and take shelter in place. In others, people on one side of the building may have to evacuate to another portion. In still other cases, evacuation outside may be the best bet. In any case, the public address and computerized warning systems will direct people what to do.
Other changes are under way. Virginia Route 110, which now runs under the Pentagon Parade Field, is being rerouted away from the building. Other projects include adding a new secure access to the Pentagon's remote mail delivery facility and changing Virginia Route 27 to accomplish that.
Some other issues are not under consideration. For example, Pentagon employees will not receive smallpox or anthrax vaccinations. Dr. William Winkenwerder, assistant defense secretary for health affairs, said he's confident that, in the event of an attack with such biological agents, health care officials in the building would be ready to treat everybody in the Pentagon within 24 hours.
DuBois said employees with suggestions or questions should send them by e-mail to

Iran-Iraq-North Korea (axis of evil)
North Korea used to operate terrorist training camps inside its country in the 1970s and 1980s where thousands of Palestinian and Islamic fighters passed through. Also had advisers in different mideast countries (mainly the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon - - lots of cross-fertilization happened I would assume, and maybe many of those relationships continue to this day?) I was under the impression that they toned things down as far as running the camps back in the 80s, but never really left the business. And you never forget old friends.
IMO, 9/11 was actually a failure. It was probably intended to fully decapitate the leadership of our country. Something much larger might have followed had they actually succeeded.
Same song second verse.
