SANAA, Yemen, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A purported statement by al-Qaida in Yemen warned Saturday of a "major strike" soon in the United States.

The statement, distributed by the Yemeni Tagamoo Party for Reforms, said: "A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," reminiscent of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Yes, you're right, it doesn't sound like an accidental occurance. Do you also notice how very little other information is given in the article?

There have been so many of these powder stories over the last 9 days it is really difficult to keep on top of them.

More than half have no published results.

The results on others come too quick or list the contents as "common household product" or some such.

Who the heck sends a "common household product" in a friggin' letter?

If you believe these results, 9 out of 10 Americans that still use the postal service do! (/sarcasm off)

Would this story about anthrax have any connection?

Particularly in light of all the powder stories of the last week.

It gives me the creeps, the story seems to indicate this isn't somethig that happens everyday.

Is it my imagination or are there more "suspicious powder" scares than after 9/11?

Even though nukes are spectacular, in FEMA Emerg Mgmnt training, it was conveyed that in the long-term, BIO is the real bad guy, because it will spread before it is known we were attacked, and could ultimately kill more than one nuke could.

Yeah I'm nervous, that's for sure. I had the smallpox vaccine as a child so I "may" be protected somewhat [who knows] but it's my children I worry about. How can we pressure the firms and/or the goverenment to allow it's sale to those who want it?

As I stated. It is not the defending part I have the problem with. It was the baseless attack part I have the problem with. JP did not call this person a Duer and tell them to head over there and leave FR. You had No FACTS to make such an implication about JP. In fact after being here as long as you have. Yes, I know anthrax exists in nature, but I never realized the outbreaks could be so large. I always thought they consisted of a few rare cases. Looks like I was wrong!!
