HUNTINGTON, Conn., Feb. 5 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Stephen Bennett, executive director of SBM, Inc. and former homosexual, testified yesterday on Beacon Hill at the Massachusetts Statehouse stating "gay" marriage is "...a deceptive counterfeit and fraud." A Representative interrupted the session, announcing the breaking news from the state's SJC rejecting a civil union compromise and demanding "gay" marriage.

Bennett, a national speaker on homosexuality and the "gay" agenda, lived the "gay" lifestyle for over 11 years, and was sexually active with over 100 partners, many whom have died from AIDS. Finally in a long term same-sex relationship, he left it all in 1992. Today at 40, he is happily married over 10 years to his wife and he is the father of their two children. Stephen frequently speaks as a national spokesperson on behalf of Concerned Women for America in Washington, DC and the American Family Association in Tupelo, Miss. He appears frequently in the media confronting the misinformation campaign being waged by "gay" activists.

Actually the numbers have been fudged for a long time. 50% of the TOTAL marriages end in divorce (roughly). But that includes the marriages of people who have previously divorced. First marriages have a lower percentage rate of divorce. So if the numbers are about actual people and not mulitple marriages, it is much better than it looks.

The gay agenda?..I could care less. Gays are kinda like indians. You know they exist and you may even see them from time to time. But all in all gays are pretty much irrelevant to the lives of straight folks. They are only important or significant if you choose to make them significant.

You probably meant the Muslim world, of which many are Arabs but certainly the minority.. There are probably millions of Arab Christians who consider polygamy to be as degrading as anyone. Polygamous marriage is a Muslim phenomenon...with many tribal societies adhering to it as well.

BTW, I USED to be an acoholic. Why was I an alcoholic? Because I drank to excess, routinely, and uncontrollably, to the extreme detriment of my health, safety and those around me.

I am NOT an alcoholic any more. Why? Becuase I no longer drink alcohol at all, don't want to, aren't tempted to, can comfortably refuse alcohol, can stay in a house with alcohol in it and not worry about it, etc.

Drinking alcohol to one's detriment is a choice. Some people have a harder time making the right choice, some have an easy time. I used to always make the wrong choice, now I always make the right choice.

Similarly, everyone has a choice about whether to gratify their sexual impulse with a member of the opposite sex or a member of the same sex. It's an easy decision for some of us, and a harder choice for others. But it is always a choice, and it is documented that people who are attracted to members of the same sex can often change their orientation, if they want to.

You can not believe that if you don't want to, but the facts are on my side.

I have taken a vow not to drink alcohol or take drugs, so I wouldn't drink one drink or smoke one joint. Not because I am afraid I would "backslide", but because of a promise. Although, about 20 years ago I backslid and smoked some weed. Not only was I not tempted to do so again, the effects were not attractive to me anymore. It was not getting "high", it was getting "low".

I am not an alcoholic that just doesn't imbibe, nor am I am drug user that just doesnt use. I used to be.

So, how did you kick it? Did you do it on your own or through therapy, 12-step, religious insight, or what?

A long story - but religious conversion would do. Involving meditation as well. No therapy. I actually had various therapies as a teenager (early drinker) and didn't do a damn bit of good.

I have heard that 12 step programs are helpful to many people though.

Nothing works for me, so far. I love to drink, although I see many reasons to stop. All I can ask is that the desire be taken away. Nothing seems to work.

Don' t get me wrong; I'm not out of control, as I keep a family and a job. It's just that things could be better. Or could they?

Things can always be better! I will admit I did a lot of praying at that time, but it wasn't about that specific problem, it was a more generalized prayer of desperation about everything.

There is a reason for pain in the world, it is a great teacher. Most of us will stagnate were it not for pain of some kind of another. Even just mental pain is often a spur that pushes us in a better direction.

On another note - acupuncture can do a lot of things. I have had it for years here and there, and it has helped where regular medicine could not. If you actually want to change your drinking habits, you might be able to find a competent acupuncturist who might be of assistance. I know they can help with smoking, and that is a hard habit to break. (used to do that, too!)
