Good for you! And I don't feel my sons are any safer just because they are boys, you need to watch those men's bathrooms too, thank god we have four, we always send them in pairs, especially when their dad isn't with us.

I agree with you. BUT, where was the mother/father? Would you let your beautiful 11 yr. old daughter walk home alone? I have four, young sons and would NEVER allow them to! Parents need to take more responsiblity for their children's wearabouts.

The video was so disturbing, it showed how vulnerable and OFF GUARD this girl was - and basically untrained as to what to do if a stranger just takes her wrist and leads her away. She probably was stunned and confused.

I have always told my kids trust no one - be as rude as you want - never ever let someone take you. Cases like this cause me to remind them of what to do - expect the unexpected and be suspect of anyone's motives - even the "nice" lady, or "nice" grandpa type.

just sickening, and I would NEVER let my 11 yr old walk alone, the world's not safe.

I understand this girl was walking home from a friend's house. Depending upon the distance, yes, I have let my daughters walk home. They regularly walked home from school, everyday, when I worked, as well. When I was in high school, I walked a mile to school. There was only one incident, when I was 13, that I was followed, for several days, by a man who attempted to lure me into his car....he came out of nowhere, every morning as I walked to school and every afternoon as I walked home. One day, as he again tried to get me in his car, I walked over to two men, working on telephone lines...the man drove off. Another time, I went into a grocery store, and watched him, through the window, drive around in the parking lot. I'd keep crossing the street to the other side as he drove up towards me, from each direction. He finally quit. Rather than shielding children from every possible situation, I have taught my kids never to go anywhere with someone they don't know.....that they must scream, yell, do whatever to attract attention should anybody try to force them to do anything....and to always go tell a responsible adult, etc. I never told anybody....I was afraid someone I'd get blamed that it was my fault that this man was following me.

INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

He appears to be guilty, but in my country people are INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY.

Michael Jackson is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

Scott Peterson is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

This guy is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

Let's not be sloppy with our judgments.

After watching the Super Bowl halftime and pop culture for the last few years I'd warn parents to stop dressing their kids like Britney Spears and the rest of the trash who dance suggestively on television and in the movies.

Department stores don't sell much in the way of modest clothing anymore. In my opinion our culture just feeds these perverts to go out and grab some child, molest them and kill them, throwing them away like a piece of rubbish.

There also is no punishment for crime anymore. We need a drastic turn around.

Our police dept. is plastered with booking sheets of sexually oriented offenders. And those are just the ones that have been convicted.

The video is sickening. It just shows how manipulative these sexual predators are and how cunning they are. This girl didn't have a chance, she did look totally surprised that this stranger approached her and said what to her we might never know. I just pray she is okay and will soon be safe at home with her family, my prayers go out to them too.

Dear Lord, please return Carlie safely home to her family!

That said, if he's found guilty, I'm all for seeing him hung upside down on a flag pole to let the birds eat at his flesh, the whole month-long exposure captured on a webcam.

That thread was zotted. LEO indicated there are rumors circulating that are untrue.

Press conference: The perp is not being cooperative. They have confirmed that the Buick station wagon was used in her abduction.

OMG! The thread was pulled - reason - speculation. I'll keep praying; however, a second poster on the thread did verify hearing the report on their local news.

Oh wow, I missed that breaking news report. I did think it was odd that the police didn't take any questions after their news conference. Where is Carlie???

There are people among us more than capable of committing truly evil acts.

And in a truly just and civilized society... only once.

When my son was 15 he was approached by a man in a car. The guy grabbed him and tried to get him in the vehicle. My kid got away and ran like hell. This was about a block away from our house. No one is safe anymore.

With all due respect, 'innocent to proven guilty', ONLY applies to and in the judicial system, aka 'court'. Not in a free peoples right to their own beliefs, or thinking about any alleged 'suspect' in a crime.

So you can think and/or believe he's 'innocent' all you want, but others can think and believe he's guilty as hell and can also opine as to those beliefs. BTW, isn't it odd that in law that the term 'innocent' is a non-entity in a plea or verdict, but that it's 'not guilty' that's used?!?
