Heaven is awesome. But I've mostly read other's reports. Few short visits there myself.

There are some logical criteria to assess reports of Heavenly visits and the like with.

"SIMILAR"
. . . .
IS NOT EQUAL TO
. . .
SAME
!!!!

You still have insufficient perspective to state so emphatically purely on a 'scientific' basis--your presumptive assumptions about this topic.

Emotion ridden bias based on insufficient evidence is hardly scientific.

It is a very complex area of life. A number of things SEEM to have SOME SIMILARITY. There's plenty of reason to believe they are SIGNIFICANTLY DISSIMILAR as well.

While it's true that faith is not required for that which is seen . . .

for some to have seen/tangible experience with the supernatural affords many without such experiences increased EVIDENCE for faith.

I don't find it huxterism at all. The 'logic' of those decrying such hereon are much more akin to huxterism, TO ME.

"Where bye the spirit..we call him Abba, or Father..." Abba is literally translated as "Daddy"!

Sounds like Christ wanted to remind us all of our "Child" status in God's eyes!

Hey DAD!...Have pity on our nation and me as well, we're not doing so well right now, and those who are evil would destroy us and would destroy all hope of freedom and all knowledge of your GLORY! (in Jesus name...amen and so be it!)

Wow!

I believe my two year old son at the time had an experience. I nearly lost him to drowning...He got out and climbed into the above ground pool via the filtering system he climbed onto. I was preparing dinner at the time and when I realized he wasn't inside I began looking everywhere. Panicking that he wasn't inside i ran out the back calling him. I ran to the pool first and found him floating face down. I tried climbing into the pool with a 9month pregnant body on me since the ladder was put away to prevent this..I did manage to get him out and try what little CPR on him i knew.. What a horrible experience at the time. I have a clue of what parents go through who lose their children to this. Fortunatley, I didn't...The next morning in recovery my baby woke up..He jumped up in bed and ask me "where did that man go that was wearing a blanket"...He was so excited and kept looking for him and for days kept asking for him...My son never had a problem from my carelessness that day, thank God! He is 12 now and a beautiful little boy who loves the Lord. So needles to say, I believe that God is watching over us all the time...

>>>I have collected several such stories from our family and a few from others, anticipating writing a book on them, but not gotten around to typing it, yet.

A body of scientific evidence has shown that similar experiences are had by people who have engaged in "huffing" which prevents the brain from absorbing enough oxygen to continue functioning properly, creating vivid halucinations.

Actually the solvent is absorbed into the bloodstream where it change the balance of neurochemical in the nerve synapses causing hallucinations. Oxygen deprivation has little to do with it unless the person is doing it improperly. There are several anethesia gases which act similarly to gas, propane and freon.

True, Not necessarily, BUT close enough - people can put themselves into these NDE's with drugs and even meditation.

CLOSE ENOUGH TO WHOM? NOT TO ME!!!!

"put themselves into THESE NDE'S"

NOT TO ME!!!

Put themselves into something SEEMINGLY SIMILAR IN SURFACE SORTS OF WAYS TO such NDE's is about as far as I could go down that path.

Your presumptive assumptions are showing again.

You must be reading a very strange Bible.

Perhaps a JW 'Bible?'

I was referring to people that are 'dead dead' not NDE. I don't see why NDE folks would not have a second chance at salvation if they were agnostic before NDE. There's just nothing in the scripture about agnostic or aetheist people having a second chance so-to-speak after they are 'dead dead' to convert to Jesus that I know of. I would suspect everyone will "convert" to Jesus once they see Him face to face and NDE folks get a peak.

That kind of fossilized, set in concrete atheism

reminds me of some perspectives on this thread.

The nominal, not real Christian Episcopalian Dr attending him was very annoyed and frustrated.

It is a good thing he wasn't a Catholic Dr shmuck.

Though, there is nothing in Scripture that says God can't do WHAT HE WANTS, CONSISTENT WITH HIS NATURE AND WORD--as well.

I just wouldn't put out made up theology on the basis of God can do whatever He chooses if he wants. I'd stick with scripture, and urge people to repent and take Christ as their savior while they are alive in this life.

I'm NOT saying anything about his Episcopalianism.

I'm saying something about his abandoning, neglect of that.

I worshipped quite happily in an Episcopal Cathedral in Spokane for quite a period of time during a very trying number of months. The people were quite gracious and I was happy to find God knew the address of the place.

Please watch your assumptions.

King James Bible is not such a strange book, is it?

And he was the one derriding his own lack of faith at the beginning of such experiences!

He described himself as away from the faith.

Your presumptive assumptions are showing again.

Take a walk on the darkside of this world and you might be interested in what you find there. The god of this earth is very devious and he will use the brains of people in theri weakest moments to push his propganda if he can. It is no coincidence that NDE also happen to people who use drugs to trip them into them and who can meditate themselves out of their own bodies to communicate with "angels".

It's not "similar"; it is the same experience, but not at " death" - not even close to it. Don't be fooled by this.

BWAAHA!

You know, if it was close by, I'd probably do it just for grins :)

Or I could throw on the Nature.org T-shirt and with the long hair, sneak in under the radar :)
