To: plain talk
I know of nothing in the Bible that says you can accept Christ after death and be saved although much is said about every knee will bow etc.
and there is nothing said in the bible about folks being DEAD as soon as they flatline either. IF scripture is to be believed, LAZARUS was capable of hearing Jesus DAYS after his death. The little girl Jesus raised had been showing no signs of life for a while, when Jesus came.
There's also an old testament story about the bones of one of the prophets... elijah or elisha... some folks threw a dead body into the grave site of the particular prophet and the 'DEAD' person came back to life.
Even when folks are DEAD to us, they may not be fully DEAD to God. God can choose to draw the line where he may. And apparently, he has on occasion NOT drawn the line where we would.
There may be a period of time wherein death has NOT become final... and in all NDE's, they NDE has as far as we know come back, WITH their story... therfore, when WE thought they were dead, to God and in reality, THEY were not yet so.
Otherwise they could not have returned to consciousness.

Additionally, there is dead in trespasses and sin yet walking around sinning repeatedly; there is 'the dead bury the dead', referring to those dead in spirit burying their dead in body relatives, there is ... well, never mind. Most reading this thread don't want to open their soul's door far enough to allow light into their spirit.

The stupidest part of scientism is the idea that if you can't measure it, it doesn't exist. Instruments uncover reality, they don't create it.
The story is bogus. We know there is no supernatural, because it does not show up on instruments.

When he awoke up the tumor in his head literally rolled out of his head and to the floor, the Doctors were totally amazed and baffled. "Tumor begone!" Amazing story.

Of course, his family never believed that she had "stopped by" on her way out of this world. (Post #65) Lovely story. There's more things in heaven and earth than can be dreamt of.

There was a man in my hometown who had a NDE and he went to hell. He described creatures tearing at his flesh.
He was a very different person after that and lived several more years of a good life.

WHERE was your platform, perspective OUTSIDE of DEATH AND LIFE from which you performed your thoroughly logical and rigorous experiments to disprove the above.Near death experiences haven't just happened to those who are dying. A body of scientific evidence has shown that similar experiences are had by people who have engaged in "huffing" which prevents the brain from absorbing enough oxygen to continue functioning properly, creating vivid halucinations. More recently a study which showed that pilots undergoing high-G training sometimes experience a hallucination very similar to reports of NDE. Loved ones, Jesus (or Bhudda, Muhammed, God, etc.), and a tunnel of light are reported in about 10% of the cases in which a trainee "blacked out" from high-G stress. Again, we see that the brain is deprived of oxygen and the body put in a stressful situation.
As much as the public seems to really really FEEEEEL that NDE's are really really true, they remain in the same category as acid trips and peyote dreams. Hallucinations, nothing more.
On a personal note: Why would you want to believe in NDE's? Wouldn't true knowledge of the "really real" afterlife totally nulify the basis of faith? Doesn't it just seem like some daytime TV huckster's wet dream?
Well, whatever, just quit slobbering on my posts.
Haven't heard of God building a lot of mansions for the arrogant in Heaven.

There are similarities about all kinds of things. Similar does not NECESSSARILY mean EQUAL. True, Not necessarily, BUT close enough - people can put themselves into these NDE's with drugs and even meditation.

Jesus said if someone confessed that He came in the flesh, rose from the dead etc. then they were of God. Such criteria fit many Godly focused NDE's. The problem occurs when the Bible is clear that there is no such thing as in "immortal soul". No one is in Heaven except God and His angels, and no one is burning in hell either, because the dead are dead. Any "spirit" or "spiritual experience" that says contrary is not from the only Holy God, Most High, but from the god of this world who seeks to decieve, even the most elect, even if such were possible.

I just have to share this story with you!
My Grandfather was in Washington DC during work hours when he got a call to rush to the hospital because his daughter (very small child) was being rushed there. He jumped into a cab and instructed the driver to hurry as fast as possible and why. The cabbie began racing through DC at breakneck speed, when suddenly my Grandfather reached forward and tapped the guy to tell him there was no longer any need to hurry, the child was dead.
This story would have been no more than a curious family tale, except when the cab arrived at the hospital my uncle (who is a devout atheist, even to this day and in his eighties) had to pay the cabbie and the cabbie told the story to my uncle! When my uncle asked my Grandfather to explain the strange tale the cabbie had told him, my Grandfather told my uncle that his deceased aunt (my Grandfather's aunt!) had appeared to him in the cab to say, 'No need to hurry and fret, Ralph, she's with us now.'
I have collected several such stories from our family and a few from others, anticipating writing a book on them, but not gotten around to typing it, yet.

Back in the early seventies my Mom shared her NDE with us. She had 5 babys of which three of us lived. On the fifth baby she legally died from blood loss. She "saw the light" and was beckoned toward it with a feeling of complete freedom and ectasy. She said she realized what was happening and though of her children and went back. She shared this with us a year or two before the first of the big NDE experience books which described an experience very similar to hers.
My mom was not somed wacked out religious freak. She was a devout Catholic.
