Clark's immigration policy is fundamentally identical to that of the President's. This is a load of hot air, similar to him claiming there would be no 9/11's on his watch.

Agreed.

Clark's playing the same basic "Amnesty = Security" game that Bush is.

General Wesley Clark, aka General Jack D. Ripper, is a nuts as he has ever been. I don't think MOST Freepers think of him as any kind of deity.

The problem is that the political establishment believe, with all the sincerity their sense of cultural and intellectual superiority grants them, that our borders are anachronisms that do nothing constructive and impede the free flow of commerce and ideas.

The result is an invasion on a scale with the wandering of tribes of the fifth century. The illegals crowd our cities, our hospitals and our jails. 95% of the outstanding homicide warrants in LA County are for Illegals. Some gangs of illegals number upwards of 20,000.

The whole "immigration issue" has a very Late Roman Empire feel to it. The soft fools in their marble cities won't get the message until the mob comes to their doors.

Really ..?? Well .. what if Bush proposed the Guest Worker idea just to force the dems to go against it ..??

So far .. everything Bush proposes the democrats are against. Why would immigration reform be any different ..??

As usual, the dems are so blinded by their hatred of Bush, they are dissing Hispanics right before an election .. not a very "smart move" to me.

Boy, Clark seems to think he's God or something -- using words like "ensure."

And all of this revamping of the INS is gonna take big bucks. Of course, we ALL know how well government bureaucracy works...the DMV comes to mind.

Why would the anchor baby thing require a Constitutional amendment? Why not just pass a law?

Amendment XIV: Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.

Dubya has the vision of what is necessary and hasn't "closed" his mind to just focus on one issue at hand

Why does it require a closed mind for him to just do his job - say, by increasing the number of patrollers on our own borders to the number of men he has patrolling Bosnia's borders? Seems to me he's rather closed-minded not to.

Nothing in that amendment says that the parents of a citizen, who aren't citizens themselves, are entitled to any kind of special breaks.

Maybe Bush figured that by running to the left of the democrats, he was going to push them further left --- but this shows that some of the smarter ones are going to get to the right of Bush --- they'll seem to be the moderates who care about Americans more than they care about foreigners.

Work WITH one of the most corrupt governments in the world? Clark doesn't get it either --- we need to work against it --- the government of Mexico has to make some changes and quickly --- we can't stop the Revolution for much longer by catering to the oligarchs there who like the system just the way it is.
