There simply wasn't much enthusiasm for either candidate, and I expect it will be the same in 2004.

When I voted in 2000 I voted against Clinton/Gore..this time I will vote for President Bush with much enthusiasm!!

My husband always leans to the left because he has a union job and normally votes third party....not this year! President Bush for him. My youngest daughter has very liberal ideals (okay, she has a conservative upbringing) and she loves Bush.

You know some one already pointed out that agencies like the NEA and NPR employ the wives and girl friends of the Washington elite. So all W is doing is scratching the back of a few "good ole boys" giving the gals something to do. But he sure pick the wrong agency. Conservative hate, loath the NEA. The NEA is a symbol everything conservative find wrong with government. To increase funding is bad, to do it in a major way, with a press conference is like telling conservative to go pound sand. And this conservative got the message loud and clear.

You may be a "I will never vote for Bush again" freeper if you have ever said

I will never vote for Bush again if

He doesn't nuke China to get that damn plane back

I will never vote for Bush again if he signs that Stem Cell bill

I will never vote for Bush again if he doesn't stand up against Kyoto

I will never vote for Bush again if he caves to the UN over ANYTHING

I will never vote foe Bush again if he doesn't have Clinton in chains by the end of his first term

I will never vote for Bush again if he does not stand up for gun rights

I will never vote for Bush again if he doesn't end affirmative action

I will never vote for Bush again if he does not get on with attacking Afghanistan

I will never vote for Bush again if he signs CFR

I will never vote for Bush again because his tax cuts are too small and not immediate

I will never vote for Bush again if he doesn’t stop the ICC.

I'm just not sure if this would make my top five or ten things this President has done that I like least.

From a policy perspective, no, it isn't the worst thing. It's the absolute arrogance, though, that separates this proposal from all the others. It's like he's rubbing it in. "F- you, I don't need your vote."

As you have noted, I think a lot of people here have just had it, and it isn't just the regular malcontents, either.

You sort of left out 1996,1998 and 2000. Oops, stepped into your ranthole again..

You're making my point.

The 'radical right wing' House Republicans were for the most part re-elected in 1996. And 1998. And 2000. And 2002.

All this despite the criticisms and predictions to the contrary by the media and the country club Republicans.

Meanwhile, the moderate GOP Senate lost seats (I believe) in 1996, and 1998. Then they lost even more in 2000 to become a minority party.

And let's not forget Bob "It's my turn" Dole absymal performance in the 1996 elections. What percentage did he get? Something like 37%?

OR maybe it was 42%. I could be getting him confused with that other worthless statist, GHW Bush the first.

Of course. Bush is a big-gov't statist, which is why so many real Republicans are upset.

Well, I will still vote for him. But, I won't be writing an enthusiastic endorsement in the Sterling College Stir anymore or go around trying to get college students registered to vote for Dubya.

Instead, I will write an attack on him in the newspaper and hold my nose in November.

The only thing that could get me enthusiastic about him is JUDGES or proposing the FairTax and pushing for it.

Forget large Presciption Drugs, Medicare and Social Security spending increases. It's time to jump ship because this puny NEA spending is going back to spending levels that are... ah, ah, still no where's near 1995 levels.

Isn't it amazing.

Deck chairs... Titanic... what am I missing?

Ah, my top hat and tails!

Has anyone seen my cuff links?

I feel your pain. I really wish I could enthusiastically support someone, but Bush is making it impossible.
