The following report from MEMRI's Baghdad office is a translation of an article which appeared in the Iraqi daily Al-Mada,(1) which obtained lists of 270 companies, organizations, and individuals awarded allocations (vouchers) of crude oil by Saddam Hussein's regime. The beneficiaries reside in 50 countries: 16 Arab, 17 European, 9 Asian, and the rest from sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. Only a portion of the 270 recipients are listed and identified.

For the Russian take on the Iraqi news use the Google search engine and enter: Russian bribes Iraq
There will surface a very interesting article from Pravda denying Russian involvement

Your link is in Russian.
By the way are you any relation to Rod Gaspar, the former baseball player? I'm just asking because my husband used to play handball with him.

Done, but I will bet it doesn't make it onto the show. Oh well, I won't be there to watch it anyway. Maybe I'll see what time the replay is.
HUH? There isn't a replay of his show, looks like they replay everything except ol' Wolfie. Can't say that I blame them though. Oh well, maybe I'll look for the transcipts later instead.
Thanks for the info Shermy.

I found mentions that Al Khafaji donated money to McDermott ... not to he campaign fund, but to his "legal defense" fund.

Weekly Standard in 2003 reported Al Khafaji gave McDermott $5,000 for his legal defense fund.

Miss Marple remember that wish you had .....that Saddam contributed to the Clintons.....look at this..
Shakir al-Khafaji, an American citizen who came to the United States in 1976, has contributed to the campaigns of former U.S. Rep. David Bonior, Rep. John Conyers, Sen. Carl Levin all Michigan Democrats and the Clinton/Gore 1996 Primary Committee

At least this was way before war was suggested...before 9/11, also. At the time Abraham was a congressperson. The election had not even occurred. Whew!

So is the USA
So is Germany.
But Germany doesn't appear on the "list", and little does the USA.
thats`s a common base for a dialogue...right.
To: madison10
Yes, it is way before 9/11. I haven't been on this thread for a few days and will go back and catch up, BUT, your find ties Amir to Michigan where Shakir lives. I see no reason why Abraham would have had reason to raise an eyebrow about the donation or any red flags that would have been raised then.
Did anybody else tie Amir and Shakir together? Are they related or is it a coincidence? Amir's the one who donated to Kerry. And that was just last spring.
To: cyncooper
Amir's the one who donated to Kerry. And that was just last spring. Yeah, just days after the war started.
To: madison10; cyncooper
Amir works for the World Bank......I don't think he is connected to this..
