IS UAE really putting microchips into their hybrid falcons? I suppose it might just be done as dogs are being chipped here for identity purposes. Who is going to think about scanning a dead bird for a microchip?

I would expect them to microchip a falcon. The process of training a falcon is pretty time consuming and they are expensive birds. When properly trained, they can be very valuable. They are falcon competitions and sporting events throughout the Middle East.
Here we microchip dogs; over there, they can't imagine why we would microchip a dog. In the middle east, if they found a falcon and wanted to find its owner, the first thing they would do would be scan for a microchip.

Yes, they are microchiping the birds. I think StillProud and you are right though, it is for ID Purposes:
>>>
The FEA and the ministry are responsible for registring of falcons and issuing the passport, while ERWDA is providing technical and scientific support, such as designing and preparing the passport and other registration documents and forms.
The process requires the owners to give information about the CITES certificate number, the origin of the bird and date of acquisition, the bird's ring number and other details.
>>>
BUT, is there a dual use for microchips? I honestly don't know. If not, then the vaccines (live viral) are probably the only concern.
