I wonder if the pilots left the cockpit doors open to keep an eye on the passenger who was video taping for 2 hours? LOL

Cuba rejects US accusations    (02/04/2004 -- 17:05GMT+7)

La Habana, Feb. 4 (VNA) - Cuba has rejected US officials' accusations that Cuba and Venezuela are jointly establishing a left wing force to cause disorder in Latin America and making efforts to hinder Washington's plan to set up America Free Trade Area.

A US newspaper reported that Cuba now receives 53,000 barrels of crude oil every day from Venezuela with preferential conditions.

The Communist Party of Cuba's Granma newspaper on Tuesday editorially said that the administration of President Chavez has been consolidated thanks to Cuba's assistance in its social programmes such as healthcare and education for the poor.-Enditem

Ridge: Attack possibly averted recently

By KATHERINE PFLEGER
The Associated Press
2/4/2004, 1:08 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON (AP) — Even as the spy community comes under fire for faulty intelligence in Iraq, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said he believes recent actions taken in response to terrorist threat information have averted an attack.

"Do I personally? Yes," Ridge said Wednesday when asked if a strike has been prevented. "But I don't know that we'll ever be able to confirm it. ... Proving an unknown is a difficult thing to do."

A regular consumer of intelligence information, Ridge said he wouldn't agree with the assessment that the intelligence on Iraq was almost all wrong, as the CIA's former top weapons inspector, David Kay, has said. But Ridge wouldn't go into detail.

Instead, Ridge said he is satisfied with the access and quality of intelligence he is getting from agencies that gather it, like the CIA, as well as the department's ability to use it to make decisions.

"It is a good, solid relationship with the intelligence-gathering community," he said. "Our relationship is satisfactory. From my point of view, whenever we have tasked them to the extent and ability that (they) can get back to us with information we requested — again depending on whether or not there is a source they could extract it from — they have."

"I think our relationship is solid and is getting better every day," he said.

In a 50 minute discussion with reporters, Ridge acknowledged there has been tension recently with foreign governments over the recent string of flight cancellations, beginning around Christmas. Raising a hand in the air, Ridge took some responsibility for the problem, saying because time was short, he initially went straight to European air carriers to discuss what to do — "Time was short," he said.

Ridge said he has since talked to his counterparts in France, Great Britain, Spain and Germany, and a better system now will allow simultaneous discussions with foreign airlines and sovereign governments. "I would feel the same way if British intelligence had a piece of information affecting a domestic carrier, and they didn't call us first," he said.

When asked if the U.S. government's insistence on sky marshals for some flights coming from overseas created the tension, Ridge said: "It may have contributed to it a bit."

"Asking these folks to put air marshals on at the last minute was something they had not ever anticipated, and now they can anticipate it," he later said.

At root, the problem may come down to disagreements among the U.S., Great Britain and France over the assessments on the threat information. Ridge said there "continues to be honest disagreement," though he thinks everyone now agrees —"with varying degrees of satisfaction" — that the right steps were taken.

"Cancellation is absolutely, positively the last resort," Ridge said. "It should always be in our back pocket."

You hit the nail on the head. Brazil, Venezuela, Cuba, Columbia, etc, is a breeding ground for socialism and communism. Look for Argentina, Chile and Peru to follow. Think about it, where did all the Nazi war criminals go after WWII other than the ones we brought here. This has been brooding for over 50 years. We are fighting in the ME right now, watch it happen in SA 20 years from now.

Reference 6199:

If we are talking about the SS-18 SATAN missiles in the Soviet arsenal, they have two types of warheads. The Chinese DF-31 is very similar, so the information is pretty much interchangeable.

Warhead type one is a ten megaton high yield Nuclear Warhead. For effect, you are looking at an approximately 80 mile area of fallout contamination, and the worst effects are in the 0-40 mile ranges.

Warhead type two carries ten independently targeted MIRV's with a yield of approximately 1 MT each. Worst effects are from 0-30 miles, and fallout effects are observable up to 60 miles.

I would figure 100 miles, approximately, in the opposite direction of the prevailing winds would be on the margin of the safe zone.

Are they sure they were video-taping & not watching a movie through the playback feature? I've heard of some with small children doing this to keep the kids pacified during flights. It's cheaper than buying a portable DVD player if you already have the camcorder

Radu, I like your web page on FReeper.

Also am glad you are working to keep our country.

Wonder what would happen if the manifesto was printed and put on the grocery store bulletin board?

Would someone take it and read it?

Max, A Texas email friend sent me the following info last night and I am sending it on to the FReepers, it is a wonderful gift to our Service People and sounds like fun.

Free dinner for returning Military from Iraq and Afghanistan, that are on R&R, need proof.

OK who was asking about the Arabic boards today.

Well, sometimes the strangest postings turn up on jihadi boards LOL. Look at this one.

A new study confirms the helpfulness of breast feeding

Breast feeding protects the baby from ear infections, this is a new research study in America shows. The ear infections are caused by the blockage of the ears with wax and liquids candles and the liquids and this happens as a result to the accumulation of the mucus in the middle ear often after a cold or viral diseases in the respiratory system. Finally American researchers confirmed that the babies who are nourished with the breast feeding have fewer ear infections as compared by the babies who are nourished with the industrial suckling (bottle feeding) by a percentage that ranges between 30 and 50 % that because the mother milk contains a special protein item that contains an antibody for the inflammations and its influence remains prevalent until after stopping the breast feeding. It is known that the mother milk grants the baby a natural immunity against many diseases and protects it from many disorders of digestion and reduces the chance of allergies especially eczema.

I'm sorry, but I just do not think that your senario is in the least plausible...in fact, I think that it is absurd.

Look, what do the Russians have to gain by nuking us? Nothing at all. Heck, the Chinese need our money just as much as the Russians do, and neither is looking to kill that golden goose.

Also, if Al Q really was a proxy for Russia, then don't you think that it would be terribly easy for them to allow their operatives to waltz into one of the local Russian missle silos or weapons plants and borrow a warhead or nuclear material? If that were the case, then there would have been a nuclear explosion here in the US a long time ago.

Now, before anyone flames me, please answer the above questions with a LOGICAL response. I know you guys are expecting the end of the world any day now, but I'd like a LOGICAL response.

Here's a more benign possibility as to Russia's intent: Like every other country in the world, Russia is awed by our military firepower and achievements in Afghanastan and Iraq. To avoid becoming completely impotent, Russia has to show the world, particularly China, India, Pakastan, North Korea, and Iran, that it still has a big bat and is entitled to more respect than it has been getting from them of late. For political reasons, Russia can't swing her bat at these countries, so she's going to swing at us and put on a show of force with our knowledge and consent. Although we will express the usual concern over Russia's show of force, we actually appreciate the oppurtunity to see what's left militarily of our cold war enemy. BTW, I don't believe for a second that Russia is using AQ as a proxy to destroy us. Although I suspect there are members of the old guard who would team with AQ to take us down, I doubt the Russia leadership would fake an insurgency in Chynecha (however you spell that place), and blow up a few car bombs in Moscow to pull off the stunt. I also suspect that there are a number of Russians who are as paranoid as some of the posters here and think that we're working with AQ to overthrow the Russian government.

re: Smallpox Vaccine

I was sure that it was a warehouse in England, that first reported that they had it.

I won't take it, but many will and it would be wrong for it not to be available for those that want to take it. I sit here all smug, in saying "I won't take it", when actually I couldn't have it if I wanted it, because of allergies.

This might be a good point to issue a warning on a gal who calls herself a doctor and sells a smallpox vaccination on the Internet.

The doctor is a veterinarian (sp?), is a pushy lady and shows up on a lot of the groups at Yahoo. You would get alarm bells too, if you stumble on her website, your 'alarm bells'
will ring loud.

The reports of a couple years ago, said that there was no way she could have a real vaccine.

Yes, I know one lady who bought it for her family.

Hi jerseygirl. All's quite around the Reston, Virgina area as far as I know. Haven't seen anything out of the ordinary. I hope and pray it'll stay that way.

I take it all's quite in Connecticut?

One word: OIL
If AQ is a proxy of Russia, and AQ pulls off a coup in SA.
Then who controls the a major part of the world's oil supply?
If they were to hit us then they would have bargining power over us.
Just food for thought.

Lab you could be right, but I could point you to a couple of articles that would make you think twice about who was really behind the theater bombing in Russia a couple of years ago, an explosion that just killed a "dissident" in Russia, and some of the Chechnyan bombings.
