"Greatest Generation" is right. My Dad started out in the Seventh Cavalry in Fort Bliss, Texas. He was a "depression era" kid from Kansas and knew horses. After service in the Phillipines, he was sent to Germany during the Berlin airlift. That's where my Mom and I joined him. I started school in Munich and German became my second language. I saw so much deprivation, poverty, bombed out buildings, and beggars. We came back to America in 1954 and I saw my first television. What a treat Howdy Doody was! Normalcy and joy was a new concept.

My parents loved me deeply, but felt I needed to experience life in order to deal with it. The took me to Andau, Dachau, Auschwitz.....before they were cleaned up and sanitized..I will never forget those trips. They made me the fierce patriot that I am today. I love them so very much for that.

All you young people reading this....never forget the blood shed on your behalf in World War II. Never forget September 11.

America is worth saving. It is your heritage. Fight for it!!

Rant off.

I first asked you to return here because I thought you were retiring and I wasn't sure what your initial post meant. But while I was writing my follow-up post (the "get back here" post), you were already responding to my "Say again?" post.

P.S. Who's on first?

P.P.S. Forget the caffeine, I think only uppers would work tonight!

P.P.P.S. What the heck are you reading this for if you are -- you are supposed to be sleeping already!

Oh, I see... Feigning tiredness and trying to get the rest of us to go to sleep just so you could reach post #5000, is it? Hmmph! Well, it worked. Sure, now that you secured the post #5000 milestone, you want us all to come out and celebrate. The nerve!

Oh I missed that. Now my head hurts. Why am I not sleeping? And I have no coffee :(

Donna this is your fault. Or Revels. I will decide later.

Not that we aren't also looking around to leave the state, but here in Long Beach, CA we don't even have air conditioning because we don't need it. Temps rarely reach 90 and ocean breezes cool it down every afternoon. Like in Santa Monica (but without the bums). Ceiling fans work for us.

I love the weather here; I grew up in the San Fernando Valley so I know 115 heat and hate it.

But are you dancing? I hope so. I would feel silly dancing alone. I'm off to bed now though,,,,hopefully not alone.

Night all.

I think we all may be a bit spiritually downtrodden because the jihadis have not hit us...yet. It will be a good thing/almost a relief once it is over, because, well, then it will be over and done for good. I think. It gets exhausting going from threat to threat. Imagine the folks who carry the responsibility on their shoulders to stop threats from occurring. I know they get burned out and fatigued. It is almost impossible not to have that happen. And then when that happens at an unlucky time, that is the moment the terrorists will pounce. Right now, I am overtired myself.
