As I recall there was enough water pressure for water to reach the top floors of the first tower that was hit. However, the water pressure dwindled as the second tower was hit and its sprinklers were activated.
Apparently the sprinkler system was designed with the expectation of a low probability that both towers would be on fire simultaneously.

This could be just an accident... but I just don't like that it was close to the Port of LA.
Small Plane Goes Down Into Pacific Ocean
LOS ANGELES -- A small plane crashed into the ocean Saturday morning about a half-mile from the Port of Los Angeles and divers were sent to search for the wreckage, authorities said.
It wasn't immediately known what type of plane it was or how many people were on board, said Art Marrujo, dispatch supervisor for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Thanx Gal but this is par for the course for this area. It is where they broke in and killed members of the Black Panthers in the 70's. It is where Ald. Bobby Rush , a former Panther is and the area is predominantly black, with Asian , Indian and Muslim storeowners
