I would suggest coke for your stomach - don't laugh - it always helps my stomach settle down. Really.

Absolutely...Coke Classic with saltine crackers. Peppermint sticks help me, too.

Think I'll go out for all 3 in a little while...AVG Anti-Virus just ran an update...usually runs at 1 am.

Sorry to digress, but I thought I would add that I'm in a pretty strange mood. I've been listening to a great album from the 90s, Badmotorfinger by Soundgarden. Then of course, my favorite song on the album, Limo Wreck, plays. It seems to sum up how I feel things are going. I guessing most you don't know anything about what I'm talking about, so I'll post the lyrics. You can tell me if I'm too freaked out. :)

LIMO WRECK

Tears of the feeble, hands of the slaves
Skin of the mothers, mouths of the babes
Building the towers, belongs to the sky
When the whole thing comes crashing down
Don't ask me why

Under the shelf, the shelf of the sky
Two eyes, two suns, too heavenly blinds
Swallowing rivers, belongs to the sea
When the whole thing washes away
Don't run to me

I'll be going down for the rest of the slide
While the rest of you harvest the gold

And the wreck of you
Is the death of you all
And the wreck of you
Is the break and the fall
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the death of you all
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the break and the fall

Under the red break of the lights
Heroes in stretches inch to the site
Blowing the pieces, belong to the wind
When the whole thing blows away
I won't pretend

I'll be going down for the rest of the slide
While the rest of you harvest the souls

And the wreck of you
Is the death of you all
And the wreck of you
Is the break and the fall
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the death of you all
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the break and the fall

Behind the blood red break of the lights
Lies the wreck of you for the rest of your life

And the wreck of you
Is the death of you all
And the wreck of you
Is the break and the fall
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the death of you all
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the break and the fall

Duh, wrong album. I'm listening to Superunknown, not Badmotorfinger.

Sorry, probably shouldn't have bothered y'all with that. I know it's a downer. I guess we all listen to some depressing music some time.

European Carriers Cancel Flights to U.S.

By BETH GARDINER, Associated Press Writer

LONDON - British Airways has canceled three flights from Heathrow Airport to Washington, D.C. and Miami because of government security concerns, the airline said Saturday. Air France said two of its flights scheduled Sunday and Monday from Paris to Washington have been canceled, also for security reasons.

On Friday, U.S. officials said new intelligence indicated BA flight 223 and Air France flights from Paris to an unspecified U.S. city could be terrorist targets. There was no immediate word from the French authorities on any cancellations.

"We remain concerned about al-Qaida's desire to target aviation, especially international aviation," U.S. Homeland Security Department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse said. "The U.S. intelligence community continues to gather specific credible threat information on international flights, as we have done in an ongoing basis in the past few weeks."

Air France flights AF026 were canceled "for reasons of security," spokeswoman Veronique Brachet said.

British Airways said on Saturday that flight 223 to Washington's Dulles airport would not fly on Sunday or Monday, but was to depart on schedule at 3:05 p.m. Saturday.

Flight 207 to Miami would not fly on Sunday, a spokeswoman said. The flight left Saturday morning as scheduled.

The spokeswoman, who declined to be identified, said BA had canceled the flights on the advice of the British government. She cited security fears but gave no further details.

"The safety and security of our operations is our absolute priority and will not be compromised," the airline said.

In Washington, a Homeland Security Department spokesperson confirmed the decision to cancel the flights was made by British Airways. The official could not immediately provide more information about why the flights were canceled, or the source of the intelligence that led to the cancellations.

BA's Flight 223 drew concerns in early January, when it was canceled twice because of security fears and then delayed for hours several more times.

Six Air France flights between Paris and Los Angeles were canceled during Christmas week.

A British Department for Transport spokesman said the decision to cancel the flights was made "in the light of information received."

"Aviation security measures are adjusted from time to time, and occasional cancellations may be necessary," he said, speaking on condition of anonymity. "The first priority is always the safety of the traveling public."

Since terrorists know that flights may be cancelled if certain names show up on them, or perhaps if there is chatter about the flight numbers, don't they have backup flights that no one knows about?

This may sound stupid, but if I were a terrorist all ready to go and they canceled my flight, what do I do, say, "Oh well, Allah, we tried" and go back home and hit the couch?

...and I'll still only discuss with a relative few at work for fear of being branded a conspiracy freak....

The people who tell me, "If something's gonna' happen, it's gonna' happen. We can't do anything about it," are going to find out soon that you can't count on the gov't to protect you 100%.

You can't count on the popular media to stay informed.

Oh, well, I'm preaching to the choir.
