U.S. space agency scientists received about 20 minutes of communications from their Mars rover spacecraft Spirit Friday, as they tried to diagnose the problem causing its breakdown.
They gave no details, but said it responded properly to a command from earth and that they hope to get enough more information from it to restore its scientific functions.
Since Wednesday, Spirit has responded to transmissions from earth, but has sent no new data about Mars. Fortunately, the scientists say, its power supply is still functioning, leaving some hope that it may return fully to life.

Previously, I understand it returned only a single tone to acknowledge transmissions. Now, it has sent 20 minutes worth of data. Hopefully the data gives enough info on the break-down that they can configure a work-around.

So, Spirits responds fine, but does not transmit anything about the place where he is Mars...Could he be in the Martian Democratic Campaign headquarters ? That would explain he's just nothing to tell us about Martian intelligent life.

Listen, I know this is off the wall, BUT do you think it was sabotaged by the EU satellite roaming Mars...Hmmmmmmm, just curious, that's all!...(taking off smirk)

This is such good news. The media has been gloating about the 'waste' of money spent on this mission.

NASA revealed the puzzling message this afternoon:
Do you still respect me?
But none of the Space-geeks had a clue what it meant.

Man Hoagland has got a great imagination!
I bet he won hands down at finding faces in the clouds when he was a child.

I am continually amazed that anyone continues to take Hoagland seriously. By the way, these days he's seeking donations to help send him Washington so he can talk to John McCain, among others, and to hold a press conference at the National Press Club. LOL! Anyone who sends him even a penny for such a lame reason is hopelessly gullible. I mean, what's it cost to catch a Greyhound to DC? Or to drive in your own car? Sheesh, what a two-bit phony.
