California heating up?
Posted on 01/21/2004 1:56:19 PM PST by LittleJoe
I live in the Sierras about 100 miles north of Sacramento. The water from my well has turned hot. The county inspector just left. He said he has been inspecting wells in this county for over twenty years and this is the first time he has seen this happen!
Anyone else have water turning hot? This is really weird!

Yea, that Nat Geo photographer died hard... But well! What a hardass! He knew what was coming and figured "well, if I'm going, there's going to be some righteous pictures"...
The bad part was that he was probably quite comfortable until it went because he was something like 7+ miles away.

As a fellow inhabitant of the area of California known as the Lost Sierra (because most people don't know about this wonderland) I might remind you that there are old extinct cinder cones just south of Quincy on the northside of the Middle Fork of the Feather River (God's Country). Also the area around Portola has had a few earthquakes in the last couple of years. I believe one was in the Fives.

If you're property is going to begin jetting steam, sulfur and magmatic ejecta I want to be there, because I'm a geologist and that would be COOL! ;) Magmatic ejecta sounds serious to me. I think I would rather see it on TV.

He's probably luxuriating in his new hotsprings. Or filling out the permit forms to open a spa.

"stick a radiator down the hole, quit buying wood... you have free heat"
I wish I had that set-up right now. My radiators are sticking me down the (financial) hole right now. -2 degrees and a lot of night ahead. Free heat would be a dream come true.
Little Joe, are you there? I want to make a reservation at your new spa. I need to escape this blasted Minnesota winter. Hello, Joe? Joe, are you there?
I'm darned curious as to what, if anything, you find out, Joe. You definitely have our FReeper interest piqued.

It just seems like it has been forever, but I just checked, it has been close to four and a half hours. How far away is the well? lol
