Many of these movies are obviously universal in their appeal. The Bear, and Star Wars are two examples. They are both great, and appeal to all ages.
That is something George Lucas forgot when he unleashed jar jar binks and a ten yr old Anakin Skywalker on the world in The Phantom Menace. Whereas with the original Star Wars he appealed to children, with Menace he pandered to them.

All of these are supposed to be movies for kids?
Gee, how could they forget "Midnight Cowboy" and
"The Deer Hunter"????

The list looks like the best-selling movies list, culled to exclude R-rated films.
For kids, I loved "Paulie" about the talking bird. For older kids, "Guns of Navarone" is preferable to "The Longest Day" for a good action plot.

What about Psycho? I loved that as a kid.

Dr. Strangelove is curious, there are several scenes that were fairly sexually charged (albeit for 1962, that is), but still a bit racy for children.

I didn't think some of these were children movies either. I was expecting Muppets Take Manhattan, Herbie, Pollyanna, Song of the South, and of course, Chitti Chitti Bang Bang!

Perhaps they're hoping Wesley Clark will become President.

Why doesn't "The Phantom Menace" play on tv or ppv? "Attack of the Clones" sure has made a long run on tv (Directv in my case) after running on ppv.
To: stainlessbanner
One that they missed was Willow. Not a "great" film (Val Kilmer and the biggest cast of "little people" since Munchkin Land - in a George Lucas production) but my kids loved it.

I want some of what they're smoking. Bad News Bears and Jurassik Park are NOT kid movies. And Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein shouldn't top any list ever.

Good catch - another missing: A Christmas Story

I hated ice Age. I hate any animated movie where the meat eaters and the people are the bad guys, that kind of thinking is the heart of liberalism and isn't good for kids.

Nemo should be on any list.
Besides why watch many movies with your kids when you can watch one over and over. Thats what we do, especially ol yeller and both toy stories. Were just grateful barney has been shelved.

Rudy???
My kids love "The Greatest Show on Earth" - Charlton Heston.
