Political Rallies End in Brawl
Two political rallies turned into a brawl Saturday night in Des Moines. A Democratic rally at Drake's Olmstead Center, urged young Iowans to get out and vote. It was targeted toward high school and college students. A group known for not voting. The rally featured comedian Janene Garafalo and classic rock star Joan Jett, but it got a surprise visit from some unwanted guests.
A group of college republicans at their Midwest caucus leadership conference heard about the rally and stormed in.
"There are seven of us who worked really hard at putting this conference together, said Jason Cole of the college republicans. "so, we met, discussed and majority ruled. We went down there."
What they didn't discuss is what to do if things get out of hand. One of the Bush supporters shoved Jett and she pushed back in anger. Ole said that was the decision of one person, and not at all representative of what the conference was trying to do.
Campus security did show up break things up. The concert did resume as planned. In fact, Jett wrapped up her day with two more performances. One in Fort Dodge, the other in Marshalltown.

College Republicans do tend to be mouthy. OTOH, a lot of the Deaniacs are exactly the same as the ANSWER crowd.

College Republicans do tend to be mouthyBut they shouldn't be "touchy", especially when they've gone into enemy territory of their own free will. Right?
They may not BE College Republicans after Monday. They've embarassed their organization.

Wouldn't put it past them. Leftist whack-jobs have tried to or talked about doing things like that at some of our protests/counter-protests. Infiltrate and try to make us look bad in front of the media.
Had they slinked away anonymous, I'd be more likely to believe that. But it looks like they have names here. These college republicans will have some looking in the mirror to do.

Think of it like this... What is your response to another persons problems when all of a sudden it's your ass on the line, i.e. Germany's...
From my perspective (from my limited base of knowledge) Germany was one of those countries terrorists used to plan and recruit in.
When it came time for Germany to throw in their lot with the US, they remained opposed. In this war on terrorism, there is no such thing as taking a neutral position... fence sitters will eventually fall off to one side or the other, if the threat of a serious threat of a terror attack causes them to fall off and get with the program, I say GOOD!

Yup, that was dumb. We don't beat up girls. :/

I was apalled by the footage on local TV.The "Bush Supporter" appeared to jump on stage and get right in her face. She should have hit him with her guitar.
I was mildly suprised to see Ms Jett supporting Howard Dean as I am aware of her extensive performances to military audiences. Her music is not the most "PC" variety either.
I certainly hope the disrupting group at least apologises for their bad behavior. They were behaving like a bunch of a$$hole lefties
They're messing with the wrong girl.

I don't know what it means but the article is offline on that website. I heard about this on the radio, went to Google News and searched. The site came up but no article.
The source link is also dead now.
Maybe the report had some errors.
