ATLANTA (Reuters) - Several hundred protesters loudly booed President Bush on Thursday as he laid a wreath at the grave of Martin Luther King on the anniversary of the civil rights leader's birth.

"Bush go home" and "peace not war" the protesters shouted from behind a barrier of parked buses across the street from King's grave.

Reportedly Mrs. King acquiesced to the president's visit. Is the grave site private property? If not, how could Mrs. King keep anyone away who wanted to pay their respects?

Apart from Hillary, few people have made a bigger career out of being a cuckold than Coretta.

Just for laughs I'd like to get my hands on a copy of the FBI audiotape made while the ol' Reverend was boinking Another Woman Not His Wife.

,,, G'day Cyni. I hear ya. I'm not a fan of free lunches. I guess the Mexicans know that work isn't paradise but it can help you get there if you stick at it.

I hope that is not a direct MLK quote in the lower right of that poster. Corretta will sue.

Bush should have never went there. This is just pandering to the black vote. The Kings have never worked an honest day in their lives. They do not deserve to be honored.

"Money for jobs and housing"

Please, don't give Bush any motivation to spend.

Many of us voted for Bush in 2000, but when blacks like myself come on sites like this and read comments such as yours, this paints the entire Republican party in a negative light.

Welcome. And, like all dysfunctional families, we have our share of stereotypers around here.

I notice you just joined today. We value your insights and trust you'll slap us upside the head when we generalize about the black community.

"Why in God's name does the President keep trying to throw a sop to people who will NEVER, EVER support him?"

NYC votes almost entirely against Republicans and certainly Bush in 2000. But he showed up at the World Trade Center wreckage to make a speech. It was an important thing to NYC. And to the country. NYC won't vote for him, but he had to show up because it was his duty.

MLK is important to Atlanta and a significant percentage of Americans nationwide. It's his duty to pay his respects so he did. They won't vote for him, but it's still his duty because they are Americans.

Duty matters.

As an independent, African American voter, I take serious offense to your comments.

You can take offense at facts all you like. Blacks vote 90% Democrat. No matter what. Blacks claim their lives haven't gotten better. The Democrats were in power up until recently. 2+2 = 4. Blacks still vote Democrat.

Yeah, about 5% of that group demonstrated that independence, as is their right.

Bear in mind as you read comments here that there is a lot of irritation at the low class displayed today by those jeering the President.

He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. If he sent a condolence card, there would no doubt be news pieces lambasting him for not showing up in person and not paying enough respect. If he does show up, he's an uninvited honky crashing a family event, not the President lending the prestige of his office to MLK day.

From what I read only around 500 people showed up to protest in a city and surrounding counties of almost 5 million. Once again we have the vocal minority claiming they speak for everyone.

Just wait until the whacko protesters show up in NYC at the Republican convention. Talk about painting themselves as the extremist they are in front of the whole country. It should be a real laugh.

Don't let that bother you. Most here understand that there is a rapidly going.........and very, very sizeable.......segment of the American black population who are middle class and higher (socio-economically speaking) and full-well understand conservative, family-friendly values. They work every bit as hard as anyone else and are just as keen to move this country forward as the rest of us. The days of blacks automatically voting Democrat are rapidly drawing to a close......and rightfully so.

I live in Raleigh, NC, and have lived in several very upscale neighborhoods in this area. In each one, there is a significant percentage of blacks, professionals, and not exaggerating when I say that NO one around here gives a damn about each other's color. We all bitch about taxes, the schools, intrusive government, our idiot Governor, etc., etc. Zero difference.

TRUST me when I tell you, again, that most know this. It has zip to do with the Republican Party, yada yada.

I already see the signs of the Democrats panicking over the growing loss of the 'automatic black vote'. All I can is it's about damned time........and proud to see ANY American who wants to stand with the rest of us in holding our government accountable.

I thought this picture was telling. I doubt if Coretta Scott King would have taken President Bush's hand if she didn't think he was sincere.
