ATLANTA (Reuters) - Several hundred protesters loudly booed President Bush on Thursday as he laid a wreath at the grave of Martin Luther King on the anniversary of the civil rights leader's birth.

"Bush go home" and "peace not war" the protesters shouted from behind a barrier of parked buses across the street from King's grave.

I was watching a tape of Bush's inauguration and Mrs. King was there in the audience. She sure didn't take offense to being in his company then! I have zero respect for her! I don't care for people who make a living off a loved one's legacy and memory.

Volunteer to join the army. They'll give you a job and housing. You'll be doing something useful for your country, your family and yourself.

Sorry, I disagree. I wouldn't want one of these slime balls being responsible for covering my son's back.

"Yeah really. Money doesn't create jobs, innovation and investment (slight difference from money) create jobs."

The leeches are unable to comprehend rational, cogent thought patterns. Such has been bred out of them over the last 3 generations.

The protesters carried signs with slogans like "Money for jobs and housing, not war"

What a broken record.

No dignity, no shame.

Children. It never occurred to them that the solemnity of the ocassion called for them to put a lid on their anger for a few minutes - to at least hold off booing until the president was away from the grave.

And then they wonder why their little ideology is losing ground so fast these days.

"It's not a photo-op George."

Yes, it was.

And everyone knows it.

"Bush is seeking to improve his standing among black voters before the November presidential election, after winning less than 10 percent of the African-American vote in 2000"

The only way to obtain more black votes is to put them all on the Federal payroll. It is time they started voting for something besides handouts.

Why in God's name does the President keep trying to throw a sop to people who will NEVER, EVER support him?

BUMP!

Good evening shag.....I live in small town, few thousand. Every day there are blacks standing around on the corners, day after day. We are also being over run with Mexicans. There is a difference. All of the Mexicans do work.

So you're saying that Bush did this as a publicity stunt? An attempt to win black voters, and not to honor MLK?

War is not the answer?....what if the question is 'what would the USA look like if we had not fought the Civil War'?

Thank you protesters for making the South look uncivilized to the world. Plays right up to the stereotype crowd.

Laying a wreath on MLK's gave today, is the right thing to do. THAT's why he's doing it. I find it incredulous that when it came to the war, you all thought that GW acted out of personal conviction and how great that is. But when you don't agree with something he does, he's doing it for political reasons. Maybe, just maybe he does what he does because he thinks it's the right thing. Your thinking is inconsistent.

I believe it was both things to GWB, but the media and black Dems will see it only as a photo op.

This was a hell of a lot of grief to take for zero benefit. Blacks won't leave the Democrat plantation in any serious numbers.

As an independent, African American voter, I take serious offense to your comments. Many of us voted for Bush in 2000, but when blacks like myself come on sites like this and read comments such as yours, this paints the entire Republican party in a negative light. Secondly, I saw many of the protest photos, and guess what? Most of the protesters (including at least one of the arrested) were white!

LOL! Hey, this is "Rent-A-Mob" we're talking about. Strickly business. They were hired to boo and wave signs, they boo and wave signs. I mean, sentiment is one thing but business is business.
