The real question is Do we want Communist Dean or Fruit Cake Clark as President?
To: AndyObermann
The glaring oversight in this article is the "Farm Sibsidy" debacle. It should be included...

Yep, President Dean will be much more conservative.I reject the notion that we must accept any behavior from our Republicans as long as it's slightly better than the Dims.
The Dims have fallen to such a low level of statesmanship that it would be difficult for ANY Republican NOT to be an improvement. That is NOT ENOUGH to satisfy me. I will hound, ride, threaten, cajole, irritate, etc. my GOP leaders unless and until they do a FAR better job at protecting MY freedom.

"Republicans acting like Liberals: We can because where ELSE are those silly conservatives gonna go?"
Very well written piece. The bots will namecall but it was quite a well thought out article.

What Andy doesnt understand is that President Bush if elected and given the Senators he needs to work with will CHANGE!
It's a big risk on the Senator(s) part but worth it.

Don't forget Bush's pledge to sign the renewal of the assault weapons ban. In one term he will have placed his signature on bills gutting the first two amendments. The Quartering of Soldiers Act is next. (Not to mention the 4th, 5th and 6th according to opponants of the USA PATRIOT Act).

Republican conservatives = Democratic blacks
Both are in a mess, and can't think their way free.
Saint W is not the answer, nor is any Democrat on the horizon. The system is broken.

While we may not like, or agree with everything the president does; the truth of the matter is when election day(s) come and go you have to pull the lever for the lesser of two evils. All politicians have down falls. You don't get to the top rung of the political world without breaking promises and selling out at some level. It's just the nature of the beast. At least he's morally conservative and fiscally liberal (so far). The other guy will almost certainly be morally bankrupt and socialist.

In the end, I suppose Bush is right, core conservatives have nowhere else to go. I cant count on any of these democratic candidates to protect us the way Bush has, but it is enraging to sit back and watch Bush sell us down the river on domestic issues in an attempt to assure a second term. This is my quagmire. The President will most likely be re-elected, and he will most likely get my vote, but I hope he reconsiders the direction he intends to lead this country. If not, it will take decades to undo the damage he has done.
So you're basically giving Gumby II free license to screw the conservative principles he supposedly holds dear?
Way to go, with folks like you, he REALLY will not fear a conservative voter backlash. I, on the other hand, will make certain he feels my disatisfaction. Tancredo may not win with my write-in and others, but Bush has not earned my vote.

Living in California I don't have that problem considering California will give its' electoral votes to Dean. I'm not going to vote for Bush and I sure as hell won't vote for Dean. I'll just leave it blank come November. Those true conservatives in swing states have lots to consider on whether you want a slow death with Bush or a quick death with Dean.

The President will most likely be re-elected, and he will most likely get my vote, but I hope he reconsiders the direction he intends to lead this country. Bump to that, but don't count on it. The GOP is in an historicaly unique situation, with majorities in both Houses of Congress and control of the Executive branch. For decades we thought "if only ....."
Well, "if only" is finally here, and what did it get us? Big Gov't on steroids. .....the very antithesis of conservatism.

The real question is Do we want Communist Dean or Fruit Cake Clark as President?
Another question is "do we want to miss the chance to have hefty majority in Congress?" If not, then we need to figure out a way to keep President Bush from being so divisive.

The trouble is we still have to undo all of the damage from the Clinton Administration.

The President will most likely be re-elected, and he will most likely get my vote, but I hope he reconsiders the direction he intends to lead this country.I'm hoping for that too. I think the immigration crisis (with or without a Bush plan), will bankrupt the USA.
Well written BTW.....

I voted for W. but not again. I liked your article Andy. I feel like Bush duped us. Sometimes I get the feeling we will find out that the Bush and Kennedy clan had more in common than we realized.
