Typical Philly. It's easy to be tough when they're surrounded by 60,000 other morons who feel the same way.

 

If all those little south Philly greaseballs who populate Iggles games were real men, they'd come up to Lambeau and attempt to beat people for wearing the colors of the opposing team.

 

Several things that are escaping you-

 

One, most of the Eagles Season Ticket holders are from South Jersey, Delaware County, Bucks County, or Montgomery County, not South Philadelphia, as you said.

Two, "greaseball" is a racial slur against people of Italian decent.  It's the equivelent of "Polack" or "Bucket head" and reveals bigotry.

Three, why would a "real man" go to an opposing team's stadium and take exception to fans wearing their colors in their own stadium?  The issue is with opposing fans wearing their colors in OUR Stadium.

 

I'm currious as to how you know so much about people who go to Eagles games since you've obviously never been to one, or you'd have known that the majority of fans aren't from South Philadelphia, just by the traffic patterns before and after the game?

Reveals bigotry, huh? Well, since my own ethnicity is 100% Italian, you would be hard-pressed to make the case that I'm bigoted towards Italians. No, it's the gold chain/leather jacket/bad attitude ethnic stereotype which I saw demonstrated by way too many of my paisans, during the two years I lived in Philadelphia that I speak disparingly of.

Granted, the Eagles draw from a larger area than just South Philly, just as it is ridiculous to claim, as the author does, that 70% of the crowd at Lambeau comes from Green Bay - But the South Philly persona was what I saw at the games I attended there.

The issue is with opposing fans wearing their colors in OUR Stadium.

If I buy a ticket, I should be able to wear whatever the hell I want, and cheer for whoever I want, without being attacked by the other teams fans.

Ultimately, even football is just a damned game; Are you saying you condone assaults against people for the offense of supporting a rival team? Maybe football isn't really the right sport for you - Have you considered moving to Englad and becoming a soccer fan?
