The fact that social science has been historically incompetent says nothing about its ultimate reach. We are just a couple hundred years from a similar situation in physics, and a couple hundred more from the beginning of competence in astronomy.
Mathematical imagination is uniquely suited for scientific speculation, but it only becomes descriptive of reality to the extent that it predicts observable phenomena.

Thank you for your reply - but I strongly disagree with this statement:
Mathematical imagination is uniquely suited for scientific speculation, but it only becomes descriptive of reality to the extent that it predicts observable phenomena.
Mathematical - and especially geometric - statements have been discovered long before there was a hint that such existed in the observable, physical realm. The classic example was Einstein's being able to pull Riemannian geometry off the shelf. This mysterious quality of mathematics is why so many are Platonist and why Tegmark asserts a Level IV of parallel universe.

yet science does not appear to be the proper tool for the job of explicating or describing Science may not have all the answers now, but given an unlimited amount of time..........

I think my statement, as it stands, does not contradict yours: Mathematical - and especially geometric - statements have been discovered long before there was a hint that such existed in the observable, physical realm .

No supporting factual evidence has been presented of an occurrence of spontaneous generation. "spontaneous generation" or the rise of life, from non-life(or order from disorder...contra the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics), is only maintained by atheist evolutionists, not any kind of creationist (be they theistic evolutionists, old earth creationists (my position), or young earth creationists).
Only atheists must maintain an uncaused cause...starting everything (life included) in the universe.
You've got your evidence exactly backwards...

Congratulations Physicist!
