we may as well go down fighting with our boots on. There's a thought I hadn't considered - the DLC has already written off the election as unwinnable, and is just letting the turkeys squawk, so they'll weed themselves out of 2008. The whole thing is already a lost cause (from their POV) and so they'll go down in flames, rather than lose a squeaker. then it's 2008 and You Know Who steps in and resurrects the party. Interesting idea.

(DEAN - He's Dukaki-riffic!!!! - He's McGovern-ous!!! - He's Mondale-agorical!!!)

Kerry self-destructed. Dean is being destroyed. Clark will either self-destruct or be destroyed in very short order. The Democratic Convention will be asked to choose between these 3 verified losers -- or go with someone as yet untainted by the 2004 election campaign.
There's not even any suspense left.

When comparing Howard Dean to George McGovern, Walter Mondale, and Michael Dukakis, people forget that Dukakis actually made a respectable showing in 1988. In spite of an abysmal record as Massachusetts Governor and an incompetent campaign, Dukakis won 46% of the vote against George Bush, Sr., and while the electoral vote was 426-112, Bush's margins in several states (California, Illinois, Maryland, New Mexico, Pennsylvania & Vermont) was very small.

The list goes on and on. Suddenly, Dean is yelling at Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe to stop other candidates from criticizing him when he's done nothing all campaign long but blast "the Washington candidates" running against him.Not to mention the fact that Dean has done nothing but Bushbash for the entire campaign.

(The problem with Dean isn't just that he's insane, it's also that he's a complete liar.)
