No commentary yet from NASA, just the image. Check out the detail down the lower right and the crater up the top - and the hill over the horizon! Wonderful!

Careful where you step Spirit. If there was Martian doggie poop out there, you'd never notice it.

Could the "RED" color be like red clays here on earth like Jurassic; or oxides of high Iron mineral content! I have not heard any possible explanations for the deep red color.

Clearly this is a hoax. I can't believe that they're actually trying to pass off a microscopic image of a Salsa Flavored Dorito chip as the planet Mars.

NASA announced today that photos from Mars confirmed that life once existed there. The now barren planet was once controlled by a race of democrats....the stark, lifeless planet is now a testament to 2000 years of democrat rule.

I don't know why but every picture of Mars is just strewn with rocks and covered so uniformly that there must have been something unbelievably huge crashing into it at some point.

It just looks like the dust (and rocks) settled evenly over the whole surface.

Are those really rocks or could they be
silicious life forms, like that episode of
Star Trek, where Spock mind-melded with, I
think it was called The Horta? How
ironic would it be if the Rover was
surrounded by Mars life, but no one
figured it out, because they were too
preoccupied looking for carbon-based
life...

Beaucoup evidence of deflation.....aeolian removal of material......maybe desert polish on the exposed rocks, esp. the triangular ones. That's typical.

Looks like we'll have to bring our own water.

Or find a nearby comet.
