I don't know who should be more insulted by Dean's latest spew. Blacks or whites. It may be a tie.

Dealing with racism is having blacks pull their own weight with out getting a handout or preferential treatment from the government.

While the Republicans have baldly capitulated to racism in modern presidential campaigns, such as appearing at Bob Jones University and claiming we are so close to a "colorblind" society that affirmative action programs can be dismantled, the Democrats have struggled to find a message that attracts swing white voters and loyal voters of color at the same Just wanted to point out that this sentence is not in quotes. I assume it is the reporter himself who is calling us all racists. I know they are awfully blatant, but this seems more pointed than usual to me.

Only a cheap desperate person would make a comment like this because whites are getting da*n tired of taking the blame for the irresponsible minorities. You need not take any blame, Dean notwithstanding.

Well, as we've seen, the Democrats are living in the past! "White folks" educated themselves.....the DEMOCRATS are the ones who need an education!

Personally, I wish Dean would slow down with all the dumb statements. I wouldn't want him to overexert himself before he has a chance to say some of these things in front of a really big audience, say, in a nationally televised debate against Bush.

This is telling:
" He said he had the "traditional white liberal idea that if black people were like us then we'd all be fine. Sort of like the Republican idea. If we all played golf at the same country club, then there wouldn't be any racial problems."
The same liberal ideas are roosting in those from the Northeast who come to this area to live. They have to be quietly pulled aside and told that the attitudes of the north, paternalism, bigotry and elitist behavior don't play well in the very integrated South.

This guy seems to be an exellent candidate to run against Bush in the general election. He is just a bit wacko. Shouldn't we see to it that he gets the demo nod?
If he is the candidate, G.W. is a shoo in.

Mother Dean taught the little lader-hosen lad all he needed to know about tolerance. You see, she recently was very excited to announce that they treated the help just like themselves. Why, the family was so average that when a new dean was born, both the child and his nurse stayed in the dining room. I love crap-laced compassion.
To: Az Joe
Dean is hilarious on this one. He ASSUMES that whites need "educating" about race. Im black/hispanic and this kind of pandering happened to me all my life growing up. Dems always think they know whats best for us. To be honest blacks and hispanics are some of the most racist ppl ive ever been around. But we get away with our racism because i guess we're the lesser of 2 evils(according to dems). The left NEVER checks their racist outbursts. And latino leadership is now showing how fake libs are when it comes to race. I cant even count how many absurd racial jokes, comments, speeches ive heard from them without any liberal blast. Its sickening. And Dean trying to "educate" whites just made me and my girlfriend almost fall out of bed with laughter. He needs to be on Comedy Central.
To: Cyropaedia
It's continuing idiotic statements like this by all the
9 8 dwarfs that is making a mockery of the democratic party.
IMO, The GOP and Bush should keep their mouths shut up until Convention time as there is nothing that can be said that would cause greater damage to the dems than the idiotic statements of Dean, Kerry, etc.
Let's keep feeding the the rope and handing out the shovels.

I think its about educating black folks to be good, productive Americans and not a dependent underclass.Regardless of their political or ideological bent, my family, friends and associates are all "good, productive Americans"; I take very personal umbrage at that insult.
Are you trying to say black folks (on the whole) are not "good" and "productive?"
Please. Spare me.

Some enterprising reporter should ask Howard Dean who his closest black friend is. Hopefully he doesn't answer "my brother".

You are all quite wrong. As Bill Clinton realized, democrats would hardly get elected in this country without the black vote. And when it's a highly motivated vote, democrats are tough to beat. Dean is just warming up for a blatantly rascist appeal to black voters, and one they are sure to go for. Do you have any idea how many black voters actually associated George Bush with dragging black people behind pickup trucks? Answer: a lot. It was the black vote that almost made Gore a winner. And Clinton literally got away with going to a black church and associating Bob Dole with lynchings and church bombings.
