And that is exactly what Sun Tzu says not to do: Do not besiege walled cities (stratagem of using the sheathed sword).

Do you know much about the author?
He seems to have a Russian first name and a German last name. He is 'googled' a 'defense analyst' based in Moscow, where he writes. He was described as a Russian in one reference.

For me, it's a simple matter for an application of major force against the Pali leaders and their terrorist followers. Thousands of Pali fighter appeared in a central square the other day, all armed to the teeth. The Israelis need to invade all Pali areas with massed, troops, armor and weapons, clean out all armed resistance, disarm all and move the people to the Sinai, next to Egypt. Then build them some houses and set up a working Pali gummint and create a very strong border. Trouble is, it won't work. Too many Pali supporters here and in Europe and the Israelis appear to be weakening.

Really interesting post. Seems the world is beginning to get it. Now if my idiot son in New Zealand would just come to his senses. The Cambridge loony leftists have a lot to answer for.

They didn't get paid much, but then they didn't have to work very long.

The author states that Iraq is cleared of WMD"s.
What do Chirac and Putin know of this?
Where are the WMD's?
My guess is that at least some are secreted in the Muslim
slums surrounding Paris.
I hope the French are ready to use the methods they
used in Algeria.

Wonder what the size of the cleaning bill was for the French and Russian military uniforms that were soiled from the inside? It had to be a big bill and a bigger cleaning task. Wonder just how many mid grade Russian military personnel were asking the question; "And you wanted us to take the US on in a head to head fight? What were you NUTS?"
Your comments are very close to the truth. This very same publication (The Moscow Times) printed an article shortly after the fall of Baghdad on the repurcussions of America's quick and decisive victory.
The Russians expected the Americans to get as far as Baghdad, where they would be bogged down into a war of attrition, one that the leftists could then turn into another "Vietnam quagmire" they so desperately sought. The Americans instead drew the Iraqis out of Baghdad into the open desert where they were decimated (remember the marines that only had a few bullets left and no water? Right....). The Russian military (as well as others) were shocked at the American tactics--they were light years advanced ahead of anyone else except for maybe the Brits.

For decades military strategists will be studying the war for Iraqi freedom. What's going to be even more interesting is when they start asking the Iraqis themselves what happened and why.
It was brilliant strategy performed by the ultimate professionals. Men who are born warriors, who are in the job they are in because they hold dear the country and family they love and will protect them with all they have. THIS is the difference. Oh yeah, plus a couple billion dollars worth of stuff.

Interesting plan. How does this square with the Bush plan? You claim to be a "conservative". What does that mean in terms of supporting US foreign policy?

While there is no doubt we did a good job in Iraq, a war with the Soviet Union would have been much different. Just ask the Germans from WWII.

Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi has weighed up the odds and decided to make a deal with Washington to surrender his weapons of mass destruction, rather than providing support to the Iraqi resistance...
There are myriad reasons for that decision.
I suspect that Quadaffi is a Darwinist at heart, and he believes in survival. Ha, his days are mumbered anyhow, so there is more to it.
How many kids does he have?

He probably is Russian. Moscow once had a sizeable and influential German population, particularly in the nineteenth century. A lot of the surnames have survived.

Wow! Moscow Times? Wonder if this news will ever penetrate the DNC? They appear to be the last bastion of anti-Americanism that still denies that President George W. Bush has been victorious over America's enemies. (And will be again in the 2004 election!)
