If not Bush, then who?

I've noticed several threads where people say they will not vote for Bush if he supports certain causes. Some include:
Memogate:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1045476/posts
Broad Amnesty in immigration:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1046165/posts
(Please don't see this as an attack on those threads or any comments in them, it's not.)
While I agree with the conservative position on both of these threads, I don't understand how a person could not vote for Bush even if he does some things that are inexplicable from a conservative point of view.
My belief is nothing could be worse than a democrat in office in 2004. I know that is the lesser of two evils vote, but it is true.
Even if Bush gave amnesty to immigrants to pander to hispanics, which would be disgusting, is that reason enough to allow a democrat a greater chance to get in office? Wouldn't the dems likely do worse?

Jim Robinson: "The conclusion is not that we should abandon the Republicans, the most of whom did not support this fiasco, but we should boot the jackass Democrats, the majority of whom did. And there's no way we should boot Bush. That'd only make matters much worse. We lose the presidency, we lose the majority and we'll lose big time to a liberal activist judiciary for the next 40 years. Do not make the mistake of turning the majority power back over to the Democrats. Enough already! Vote the rat bastards out! "

Thanks for re-posting Jim Robinson's post. He got exactly to the crux of the matter. That is indeed to only rational and appropriate thing to do: you want a more conservative agenda, get Dems out of Congress and put more Republicans in, instead of attacking Republicans and thereby help the Democrats.

Some people refuse to accept half a loaf --- they get their kicks bitching from the side line. Never a player always a by-stander.
They are getting a 3/4 loaf and still gnashing their teeth and getting offended when you call 'em on it.. ah well..

Well, we all know the "REAL" conservative is Patrick J .Buchannan. After all, he surely has lead us to the promised land, all the while holding hands with Ross Perot, savior of the nation.

Flogging myself for that omission as we speak.
By the way, I like Keyes, brilliant speaker , first rate mind, too. No way he can be President. Too intense for the squishy middle.

"I hope your meds kick in soon." Another snide remark that adds nothing to the conversation.
I am not the one in need of meds and don't need to lie to myself to get through the day when the man that I voted for turns out to be a fraud. I can admit that I made a mistake and am willing to take the necessary steps to be sure that I don't make the same mistake again. You can't admit that you erred. You'd rather live in denial and defend the indefensible rather than face the truth. You will need stronger meds before this is over.

Perhaps a Democrat in the White House would keep the GOP honest and more accountable to the conservative base. The dumbing down of America has claimed another victim.

You seem to have this idea that a tactical move to obliterate the opposition is a mortal sin, So be it.Frankly, if you're truly sincere in your hurt and rage, end it all. You and all of you perfect world types must disappoint easily, sad, really.. As far a snide remark to you or any of the rest of you principled, death before victory types, too bad. You frankly are the same kind of individual who feel for Perot's siren song twice, Congratulations, you've marginalized yourself , your "beliefs" and everything you claim you stand for, I won't hold my breath for you to admit YOU are the one who fails to realize that the world ,political or otherwise, does not always work as we'd so desire. No, you appear to me as the type of individual whop took your softball home when you did not get to pitch or be the lead batter. As stated, you want to discuss principle, then we can , you want to moan and call it principle, sorry, I have a life to live.

What you have to realize,is that some people see a glass as 1/2 full, some see it as 1/2 empty. The UNAPPEASEABLES see
NO glass at all.
When they say that they won't, under any circumstances, vote for President Bush and/or a Republican, we should all, immediately, remember the Aesop fable about the dog in the manger.
They consider themselves to be the sine qua non of conservatism, the closest things to the embodiments of the FFs. What they all are, however, is the antithesis of Conservatism, so far away from the positions and beliefs of the FFs,as to make one's head spin! I don't like revisionist history,no matter WHO is the author of it; least of all and especially when supposed Conservatives are playing with historical facts.
To: A2J
Oh yes, suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure they would; just as the GOPers " kept " Clinton from taking money from foreigners, selling the Lincoln bedroom out, giving our secrets to the Chinese, selling pardons for money and/or votes, getting Lewinskys in the OVAL OFFICE,almost completely selling out Israel, kidnapping Elian and sending him back to Cuba, and the endless list of other horrible things, over which the House and Senate GOP majority had oh soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much control over. LOL,LOL,LOL
When the Dems held the White House and both Houses, for decades, there wasn't a hew and cry from LIBERALS/Dems, as to how much better it would be if this wasn't so. How come THEY are more intelligent and politically savvy than so many here, who are supposed to be conservative and well informed politically ?
By NOT voting to re-elect President Bush, you actually ARE voting for the liberal...by proxy!
To: Badray
No one, as far right, as YOU and YOUR ilk would heartily support, is capable of getting elected to president, or any other national elected post.
Now, if you want to throw Ron Paul, into the mix, as someone far enough right and elected, you would be incorrect . Paul is a RINO, couldn't get elected dog catcher, until he ran as a GOP and still, as a LIBERTARIAN in Republican clothing, he is totally incapable of getting his positions passed on AND by his actions/votes, more often than not, sides with the damned Dems.Of course, a Libertarian is NOT a Conservative, but oh well, he's usually the lone name, of someone fringers glom onto here, as THE alternative.hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Forget the old line about being a bridesmaid...these people haven't gotten even THAT close to the alter. :-)
To: gatorbait
The "principled" anti-Bush agitators are either the Dems useful idiots, or they are not idiots, they are working for the Dems knowingly, using conservative sounding pronouncements, as Trojan horses, because their true purpose is defeating Bush and the Republicans.

They are THE ENEMY WITHIN !
To: onyx
Yep, 100% spot on!
And the worst part is, that some of them even WANT the Dems to be in power and Hillary as president/QUEEN OF THE WORLD,would make them giddy with delight. WHY ? Because they erroneously assume, that that would cause a bloody war, which, when the smoke cleared, would place them in places of power.
Delusions and hallucinations are reality!
