From an
abc report on Atta on 2001-
Investigators are trying to determine whether he is the same Mohamed Atta who received U.S. military training, intended for members of foreign military services, in how to use E-2 Hawkeye radar aircraft at Norfolk Naval Air Station, Va. The FBI has obtained the phone records from his mobile phone.

Bill Kriston on FoxNews saying the flights were probably cancelled due to "specific information" and not just general alarm. He said the US insisted that the first flight of the 6 not be allowed to take off from France.

I did not see the statement on the DHS website; it must have just been faxed to the media.

And your point is what? That, but for the few hours' margin Lafayette had to escape his own country wearing his head on his neck, the French are a great and noble race?
There are two words that capture France well, both today and in the history books. The Terror.

Also, from newsweek -
Federal investigators tell Newsweek that Mohamed Atta, the ringleader, visited Norfolk, Virginia, site of a huge US Navy base, at least twice in February and April. The Feds believe that Atta was scoping out an aircraft carrier as a target.

Literally millions of people on the fence will take it very, very personally.True, but if a terrorist attack is prevented, people will say the Alert Level was hyped. If a terrorist attack actually occurs, they'll say it was the fault of the Bush administration. Darned if ya do and darned if ya don't.

The Terror was an invention of Republican France. Lafayette was an officer of the king of France. It was the French monarchy that played a key role in establishing our independence.

of course it took hours to convince France we will not let them in our airspace We're probably obliged by reciprocal rights under treaties to let them in, so no doubt that would require argument.
