Al Gore's Son Arrested for Possession of Marijuana

Albert A. Gore III, the son of former Vice President Al Gore, was arrested last night in Bethesda, Md. for possession of marijuana.

According to Montgomery County police, Gore was driving a dark-colored Cadillac through downtown Bethesda around 11:30 p.m. with the car's headlights off.

Police officers who were conducting a campaign against impaired driving during the holiday season stopped the car and noticed that despite the freezing temperature, all the car's windows were open as well as the sunroof.

When the officer spoke with the driver, Mr. Gore, he smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car.

When officers searched the car, they found what appeared to be a partial marijuana cigarette near the center console area. They also found a baggie of suspected marijuana inside a cigartette box and a crushed soda can with an odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the can.

Gore and the two passengers in the car were charged with one count of possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. All three were released pending trial.

A 21 year old SON of an idiot Vice President is "evil?" By not attacking an individual who hasn't campaigned or run for office himself we're showing "weakness?" Please. Cut back on watching the "Patton" movies. He's just a numbskull with the bad luck of having Gorbot and his wife as parents.

If the media had shown such discretion with the Bush girls, I'd agree with you. But since the precedent has been set, with Barbara and Jenna's drinking literally making the front page, fair is fair.

I'd be interested in knowing whether the headlights being off was a sin of omission (too stoned to realize he forgot to turn his lights on), or commission (turned lights off in an effort to avoid being seen).

I'm not such a puritan as to believe that a college kid who smokes a little weed is irredeemable. But there's a difference between burning one in your dorm, frat, or apartment, and doing so on the public roads. In addition to the obvious danger to others he posed by (again!) driving under the influence, how damn stupid is it for the son of a public figure to be behaving like that in downtown Bethesda on a Friday night?

Some have said that Al Gore Jr. seems to have a political death wish; Al III seems to have inherited the genes.

I have no sympathy. Any bad fortune that befalls the Gore family is well earned by Al's attempted coup d'etat for those 36 days in 2000.

Thanks NYCVirago. It's nice to see a real warrior who understands that the Democrats will stop at nothing to destroy us and our way of life. The "mainstream" media would have interrupted programming if this had been a Bush child. They would have been conjecturing on the horrible parenting of the Bushes. When we are virtuous and show sympathy, it is used against us. They have ZERO sympathy for us. The Democrats are evil. They will stop at nothing. We must fight fire with fire. Showing weakness through sympathy is not acceptable.
