No, you didn't read it. It implies he/she thought he didn't deserve it. If that's not what he/she meant, he/she coveyed the exact opposite.

Excuse me.......but I am a 66 yr. old grandMOTHER.

I was so proud of our republicans that day. They knew the political consequences, given the media, but did the right thing. It was a day of which to be proud, not sorrowful.

Just my opinion, of course.
