Republican presidential nominees 2008
Posted on 12/19/2003 2:58:48 AM PST by Reader of news
I think President Bush will be re-elected next year surely. Nevertheless, there is not any sure candidate for Republican presidential nomination in 2008. I think John McCain, Jeb Bush, Rick Perry, Condoleezza Rice, George Pataki and Bill Frist may be candidates.

Did you have a gun "grabbed"?
Nah.
You are an oily operator 'round these parts. Don't fret, you're one of the smarties repping a cast of thousands.

make that Clark AND Clinton
To: areafiftyone
but most Republicans will not vote for him simply on the abortion issue. He is pro-choice.He is an authoritarian liberal. That's the real reason, but what the heck, they elect them all the time.

Of course Tom Ridge vs Ed Rendell would be a very interetesting contest....
Ed "I'll-screw-PA-like-I-screwed-Philly" Rendell.
I'd love to see Ridge take that dirtbag to the mat.

Let me third the nomination of Bill Owens of CO. As much as I love Jeb, I think the dynasty issue comes into play and would give people on the fence a reason not to vote for him.
I don't know a lot about Owens but what I see I love. He was interviewed on FNC when things (according to the media) weren't going very well. He did a better job defending the Bush Administration than anyone in the Bush Administration.
If the Dems are smart they'd nominate Phil Breesden, TN governor. He wouldn't survive nationally but he is doing a real good job balancing TN's budget.

"Gun grabbing"
What a weasel.
To: ArneFufkin
I'm having a hard time following you here. Are you claiming that Rudy is not, in fact, a bona fide gun-grabber?

Why don't all of you get off of the right to life issue. With the advent of over the counter birth control pills, so the right to life is a moot question. This issue has always split our party, and now it is time to do like the Dem's. Forget it, and get on with winning elections.

These kind of threads are the best example of putting the cart ahead of the horse. Agreed. But rampant baseless speculation and uninformed conjecture is what the internet is best for.
To: jmc813
ABSOLUTELY!!!!
Any of you dumbasses who claim a politician "grabs guns" hurts EVERY OTHER ONE of we gun owners. Rudy Guiliani is NOT A GUN GRABBER
You're a destructive punk jmc. You have no good faith operation in this forum. If we met ... who knows? But "gun grabbing" commentary ... that's out of NOWHERE and your cynical bullshit don't play. Gun grabber ... FU
To: BooBoo1000
I'm sure you're right - let's do it like the Dems, to hell with principle. What do 40 million dead babies matter when we've got elections to win? After all, the Dems have done such a stellar job winning elections the past few years - that's who we need to emulate!
"the right to life is a moot question" - Jesse Jackson, Saturday Night Live is calling...
sarcasm off...
To: ArneFufkin
Rudy Guiliani is NOT A GUN GRABBER Going by that logic, Sara Brady is not a gun grabber. The guy wants a NATIONAL GUN REGISTRY for crying out loud! He also supported the New York City laws that made it ILLEGAL for citizens to own guns! What, exactly, is your criteria for labeling someone a "gun-grabber"?

Let's have Dick Chaney have a mild heart attack, now, and then put Condeliza Rice, is his place, and that would answer a lot of questions. Hitlary would not run, we would pick up a lot of Afro-American Votes, and she would be in line for the Pres in 2008. Best of all situations.

If I meet you, I'll pimp slap you. I hate operators.
Bye.

I think John McCain He'll run, but he'll lose.
Jeb Bush,
Another Bush?
Rick Perry
Don't know much about him besides being TX governor.
Condoleezza Rice
She needs to be a governor first to gain experience.
George Pataki
Anti-gun. NO WAY.
Bill Frist
Weak.
I expect Bill Owens to jump in as well.

Rudy is also extremely anti-2nd amendment. I can't vote for him based on that.
I'd like to see him at HUD or someplace like that, but not anywhere social issues can be affected.

"I've travelled around, and I've never been isolated because I spoke English. English is the WORLD language. Believe me."
This isn't merely an accident or due to military dominance.
MOST inventions in the modern world came out of English speaking countries. English offers a much wider vocabulary than most other languages, with finer nuance of meaning being available than are present in others. Further, English, unlike some other languages, is facile. It can incorporate words from almost any other language into its vocabulary, Anglicize them, combine them with other word stems and make them its own. Consequently, its vocabulary is conostantly growing.
To exchange English for a language so challenged in versatility and vocabulary as Spanish would be idiotic. But then liberals are pushing this and rationality has never been a strong point with them - they emote, they don't think.
But your point about learning another language is well taken. If nothing else, it will help you learn your own better, and appreciate it more.
