Rally For Bush...(Gallup Approval Soars To 63%!!)
Gallup Poll ^ | 12/18/03 | David W. Moore

Posted on 12/18/2003 12:56:55 AM PST by Recovering_Democrat

PRINCETON, NJ -- In the wake of the capture of Saddam Hussein, President George W. Bush's job approval rating has increased significantly, as has his electoral strength against Democratic candidates for the 2004 election. Vermont Gov. Howard Dean remains the clear front-runner for his party's nomination, but his level of support is down slightly from when it was measured just prior to Hussein's capture.

The latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup survey was conducted Dec. 15-16, two days after the stunning announcement on Sunday that Hussein had finally been captured by U.S. troops. Bush's approval is now at 63%, the highest since last June, and seven percentage points higher than what Gallup obtained in a Dec. 11-14 poll. Bush's job approval rating started to gain on Sunday, Dec. 14, the day of the announcement. If interviews for that day are excluded, Bush's pre-Hussein capture approval rating, obtained on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday was actually 54%, suggesting his approval rallied by nine points.

A somewhat dispirited Sen. Hillary Clinton (D- The Great Outer Darkness) responded to the news of President Bush's increasing popularity with the same quiet dignity and grace she's always demonstrated, during trials such as these:

Anyone notice how all these approval polls were being done over the weekend, the time of the week that is the last accurate and most skewed leftward.

Interesting choice for a first-time-ever posting on this board.

Tell me: have you met my good friend, Mr. Zot...? :)

Big old yawn there NP. Bringing out the same ole Michael Moron stuff, we created hussein, yada, yada, yada, ad nauseum. With hussein now gone, the middle east is now less one dictator.

I guess you are going to tell me now that the world would be a better place with saddam still in.

Actually Gallup/CNN contacted me on Sunday evening around 6:00PM for this poll. I asked them to never contact me again, as they were disrupting "family time" and to take me off whatever contact list they had.

If most conservatives are as upset by such instrusions as I am, then Bush's numbers are probably around 80%. I don't feel bad about not participating in such a poll. Being that Gallup/CNN are hardly reliable sources since the 2000 elections and before, I doubt any major favorable news resulting from the polling would ever be allowed to surface.

I will not be subject to a any research conducted by the enemy.

I agree. Far more Republicans than Democrats refuse to answer the phone, check their caller ID, etc. We never answer unless we have checked the caller id and we know who is on the phone.

Normally I would agree with you about Gallup, but since these numbers are driving the left insane, I would reconsider participation and give the president strong support. Remember how they used Clinton's high poll numbers to say he shouldn't be impeached? If the president gets low numbers after Saddam's capture, the chattering classes will use that against him, to show that voters didn't care about it.
