I'm still trying to adjust to the fact that the Iraq press corps cheered when they saw the video of a captured Saddam.

John "F-ing" Kerry on Fox exhorting the prez to now let "our allies" in on the Iraq contracts. I wish the GOP would get their act together on that story.

They should be saying, "France, Germany and every other country had their chance to join us....it was last spring when the difficult tasks and choices were before us. They missed their chance and will now have to live with it".

RE: you second photo of Saddam. US Forces cut off his beard to show the Iraqi people this is really Saddam. I hope they nicked him. Too bad we don't see little pieces of toilet paper stuck to his face! They left the moustache to show it's really him, though. I curse his moustache!!!!

BTW, when did word first get out? Must have been between 4am and right now, because I got to bed very late this morning.

First broke with unconfirmed reports of the possible capture at about 2:00-2:15 Pacific time. Very quickly got more and more solid. Bremer formally announced solid confirmation a little after 4:00 Pacific.

Tikrit's probably one of very few cities where there aren't celebrations. It makes me wonder how many other of the "big wig" thugs are there, too. Hmmmmmm. The locals know, I'll bet, and maybe more on the "Deck of Cards" will be caught before it's over. Fingers crossed!
