SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED

Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has been captured in his home town of Tikrit, according to reports.

There has been no independent verification of the news but Sky New's Foreign Editor Tim Marshall says the source of the news is usually reliable.

The US Defence Department says it has had no confirmation of the claims, which come from Iraqi Kurd leader Jalal Talabani, says the Iran news agency IRNA.

Hundreds of exultant people have taken to the streets of Kirkuk, firing weapons into the air in celebration.

A press conference has been announced for 12pm GMT.

In Baghdad, a spokeswoman for the US-led operation notified reporters that a "very important" announcement will be made at the press conference.

Very fitting article for today, especially sweet retribution for Al Gore's backstabbing behavior towards
Lieberman. Couldn't have written a better article
myself!!

What a mug shot. He could have hidden in downtown San Francisco.

It's great to have that photo shown to all of the mideast.

Since these guys were captured early Saturday morning and it is being reported that the Iraqi that gave Saddam up was in detention and was being questioned and that the U. S. Military only had a 3-hour window in order to capture Saddam. Perhaps that saved some of the $25 mil reward money.

Damn just take me. I'm yours.

Word of Saddam's capture sends many Iraqis to the streets of Baghdad, where they celebrate by marching with flags and anti-Saddam banners, dancing, throwing candy and firing rifles into the air.

Merry Christmas for certain. this was a gift from coalition forces delivered courtesy of the 4th ID to the American people. ...the 'nice' ones anyway. The 'naughty' ones have been given the same gift and see it as their lump of coal. How very sad for the Left that they have indeed manufactured a parallax hell for themselves in which good news for humanity is misery to their perverse sensibilities. How long will it take for them to manufacture some negative spin even to this great news? The fringe Left is a little more irrelevant today than yesterday. That's a little stocking stuffer for us as well.

Good Work, Men of the US Armed Forces and your Coalition Comrades. We remain tremendously proud of you; stand steadfast in our support; wish you health and safety in this blessed season; and will take good care of your families until you come home again.

Merry Christmas and God's Blessings. Thank You.

Atos

p.s. Great image comparison, Salem. How about this one...

CNN is spinning this so hard, my head is spinning.

The jerk on the scene in Baghdad who's reporting in to Blitzer just said there's no celebrating in the streets, although "there may be some Iraqis happy about this in the quiet of their homes".

That jerk was not spinning. He was in Tikrit and there is no celebration going on in Tikrit. There are hardly in people out on the streets of Tikrit. The Sunnis are locked away in their houses.

SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED

WOO-HOO, OOH-RAH, HOO-AH AND HALLELUJAH!!!

This one's for Rafat Abdulamajeed Muhammad!!!

I'm supposed to be studying...But I couldn't imagine being off FR today, a day I have waited for since 1990, for two-fifths of my life! I have wanted this bag of used bowel movement made to answer for his crimes for a very long time, and I'm holding back tears right now thinking about all those people in Hallabjah.

Judging for the photos of the captured Saddam, I am sure I saw him standing at the bottom of an 1-95 exit ramp holding a sign saying: "Homeless---Will Work For Food/Oil".

arabs know how to deal with their fallen strong men.. tearing at their flesh and dragging the pieces of the corpse is the norm. i dont see why saddam deserves any better.

Many of the pictures on TV show Iraqis in Baghdad carrying Communist flags as they celebrate.

The bubble-headed talking heads on TV have not reported this.
