Not sure, but remember that Soros wrote the law in the first place. Might be wise to pre-dash any hopes in this area Can the hyperbole and tin foil, Soros didn't write it.

I saw breaking news on CNN & MSNBC, but I think all of the cable network staffers are reading the decision and trying to figure out what the Supremes did.
It's not posted yet on the Supremes website and it's not on findlaw yet. Then again, I have to be in the right mood to plow through 300 pages of legalese.

I think this nation is basically "done". Nah. It still needs to be flipped over and baked for another 250 years.

To the extent that there's any conflict, the later-in-time First Amendment should trump anything conflicting in Article I, Section 4.

The Election Law Blog appears to have gotten the scoop, at 7:00AM. The blog has also posted the opinions. Many thanks for the link.

Does this ban attack ads or ALL ads? Does this ban direct mailing (including sending videos)? Does it ban CABLE ads as opposed to networks? I need details, and so far no one is supplying them.
Fox is still going over the decision.

This is no longer a free country. Some of you sound just like libs on this thread, with this shrill hyperbole... Come on, aren't you over-reacting?
To: Sabertooth
I didn't read the decision ... is it Noon EST that our free speech is being taken away?

Your heros passed the repeal of the first amendment, now you live with it. What exactly do lies add to this discussion?

Then I realized that the NRA has shown the way around the law by becomming part of the media and using 'Editorials" instead of advertisingThe really stupid thing about all attempts to regulate speech is that it can't be done. There will always be loopholes, so what you do is make criminals out of everyone.

Political speech is undeserving of the protection accorded to pornographers and enemies of America. Isn't this a wonderful world we live in - or what? This has never been done before in our nation's history. Up to now we've never lived in a dictatorship. Its just a matter of time before the political class wipes out what's left of the First Amendment.

Huh, Clinton SCOTUS appointess, Ginsberg and Breyer are not my heroes. Hey goofy, Justices don't PASS laws.
Your guys passed the laws, the fact that two morons appointed by another moron and whom are cut from the same political cloth as your guys is irrelevant.
They are all your heroes. You got what you have always wanted, unlimited government power. I hope you are the first one they take away.

I'm not happy about this one bit .... but I'm willing to wait and see how it shakes out before declaring that the sky has fallen. My thoughts exactly.
Sometimes things go awry (as they have been for about a century for America) but it is up to us to fix them.

And your bright idea is what? And try to give me an answer within the realm of reality and possibilityIt's a losing battle... Every time something like this arises, you have people over-reacting, saying they won't vote for Bush, saying there's no difference between the parties (what a moronic view)... When they see the stark differences between Dean's and Bush's policies and views, they'd be utter fools to vote for Dean, or equally as bad, sit on their hands during the election.
This knee-jerk reaction, while not surprising, is nevertheless disappointing.
