I don't know if this is really good news, or merely a tactical retreat from a horrible blunder by the commanding officer.

What happens when a Colonel gets a written reprimand? Doesn't that pretty much end his chances for further promotion? If so, then I still consider this to be a major injustice. The reprimand should go into the file of the general who approved this unjust process.

This will have the effect of forcing some "officers" to be more concerned about the "rights of prisoner" than the lives of their troops..

His CG did nothing at the time, because he thought it was a minor incident.

O'Reilly had Col. West's attorney on his show, and he more or less confirmed it He said the Army was going NJP him, which almost certainly means he'll get a letter of reprimand placed in his personnel file.

IMHO, sounds like the 4th ID CO figured it out, albeit belatedly. This should never have gone as far as it did and I only hope it has not effected the moral and willingness for other CO's to do what must be done over there.
