Support Fisher House
The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need by providing homes close to a loved one during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.

There are currently 31 houses located on the grounds of every major military medical center and several VA medical centers. These houses will play a critical role in caring for casualties from Operation Iraqi Freedom. Donations will be used to help meet the cost of lodging for a family whose loved one was injured in Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom. There is a limit to the number of families who can stay in a Fisher House and program is committed to help provide lodging for families who must find commercial lodging, because the Fisher House is full.

You think you're hot?
Our military forces in Iraq sweat it out in 130 degree heat everyday!
Cool Our Troops is a non-profit effort to 'Cool' our troops in Iraq. They are raising funds to send personal misters to 50,000 military personnel serving in Iraq. The misters are portable, no batteries or electricity required, and rely on evaporation to cool surrounding temperatures by 20-30 degrees.

If you ever left a message on an answering machine you can do this!
It's really that simple. AND It's a Toll Free Number !

Send deployed troops message on SoldiersRadio.com

SoldiersRadio is again this year providing a way to let you tell Service members worldwide that you care and are thinking about them during the Holidays.

You can do an Audio Post Card simply by calling 1-800-330-5090.
Your recorded personalized message will be played back on www.SoldiersRadio.com.

You can record a short message (30 seconds) to friends, family members or just a random message of good will. SoldiersRadio will then take your message and put it on the radio Web cast throughout the Holiday Season. Its very simple to do and works both ways ... from the field or to the Service member.

AnyServiceMember.org is also promoting the call-in holiday service in hopes of reaching a large group of people who would like to send a message to Soldiers serving away from home.

The cut-off date for the call in is Dec.15.

Today's FEEBLE attempt at humor:

Notre Dame travels to California to play Southern California.
When they arrive the coach says to the Notre Dame coach,

"I hear you travel with a Priest, that's amazing.  May I meet him?"

"Which one?" replied the Notre Dame coach, "Offense, Defense, or Special Teams?"

Hello. everyone! I just wanted to drop in real quick to ask everyone to extend a warm, Canteen-style welcome to my friend, thumperusn, who signed on yesterday. He's a former student of mine, and is now my crewmate here in Sicily. He's an Acoustic Operator, like me, and is a damn fine one at that. He heard about FR from me, and decided to join.

I'll let him tell his own story after that, when he signs on again. Meantime, Hoss, just enjoy your FR experience, I'm sure it'll be as fun for you as it has been for me. Check my homepage (by clicking on my screenname) and click the "Links" button to see such educational materials as the HTML Bootcamp, and go to town!

Once again, WELCOME, THUMPERUSN, to the Free Republic!

Good Morning troops!! Good Morning everyone!! No school today!! It snowed last night! he he he! Here is today's humor attempt!

On Christmas morning a cop on horseback is sitting at a traffic light, and next to him is a kid on his shiny new bike.

The cop says to the kid, "Nice bike you got there. Did Santa bring that to you?"

The kid says, "Yeah."

The cop says, "Well, next year tell Santa to put a tail-light on that bike."

The cop then proceeds to issue the kid a $20.00 bicycle safety violation ticket.

The kid takes the ticket and before he rides off says, "By the way, that's a nice horse you got there. Did Santa bring that to you?"

Humoring the kid, the cop says, "Yeah, he sure did."

The kid says, "Well, next year tell Santa to put the stupidity in the horse's brain instead of on his back."

I am VERY grateful to you for Posting these chapters, my friend. I inherited a deep fascination with ancient warfare from my father...and it has stood me in good stead all my life. Great to recharge the batteries here, though!
