Moderator note: I know it's going to be tough, but, please watch the calls for violence against this creature.

In a demoralizing message to U.S. soldiers serving in Iraq, visiting New York Sen. Hillary Clinton told them that Americans back home are growing increasingly skeptical of President Bush's decision to send them into battle.

Describing two meetings with G.I.s over turkey dinners in Baghdad, Sen. Clinton told reporters later that soldiers wanted to know "how the people at home feel about what we are doing."

Clinton said she told the troops, "Americans are wholeheartedly proud of what you are doing but there are many questions at home about the (Bush) administration's policies."

She also suggested that the U.S. could eventually loose the war in Iraq, contending, "We have to exert all of our efforts militarily, but the outcome is not assured."

Despite her sour pronouncements, the former first lady insisted that the soldiers were just as glad to see her as they were President Bush, whose surprise visit less than 24-hours earlier was greeted with standing ovations.

"It's a positive for the commander-in-chief to visit troops in the field," Clinton told reporters, adding, "the troops [also] seemed to appreciate seeing myself."

Speaking from a secure location just over the Kuwaiti border, Mrs. Clinton launched one verbal salvo after another at the White House, arguing that Bush officials had been "obsessed" with getting Saddam Hussein and saying the perception blinded them to the difficulties of deposing his regime.

"The Pentagon tried to make do with as few troops as possible, as light a footprint as they could get away with," Clinton said. "Now, we're playing catchup . . . Unfortunately, I don't think they fully appreciated the conditions we would encounter."

The top Democrat also reprised her charge that the White House is being less than candid when it comes to apprising the American people of the costs of the war.

"The obstacles and problems here are much greater than the administration usually admits to," she said, adding, "Everybody has to be honest."

Hey, you! Good to see you.

I hope to heaven that you're going to write a letter to the editor about this.
You do an excellent job of it.

thankfully....the baby is now sleeping thru the night 90% of the time and is walking/tottering a bit too.

It's a wierd feeling watching him knowing that he will most likely (unless I hit the lottery and enslave an au pair....or better yet ...a handmaiden..lol)...will be my last child.

I have had pre-schoolers more or less in my life for 15 years now. Gonna be real quiet around here in another 5 years. Having babies around all the time is big work of course but it makes you feel grounded to the whole spectrum of life. At 46, relatives and friends are starting to fade out a faster clip than I like....my mom tell's me that it only gets worse. Babies give me a sense of continuity I really enjoy.

Guess it's not fair to the children or my wife to have kids forever...oh well.

I had the "big life" early before kids....been everywhere, done everything...so I don't have that itch to retire and buy an Airstream, do the Islands, more Eurotravel and see the world with Annette....although a weekend here and there would be quite nice.

I understand why early breeders probably feel different.

Did that make any sense?

Stop kidding yourself, Bush is for that, only in a slightly different form. It was his pop's after all that coined the phrase, New World Order.

That is not correct.

George H.W. Bush did say "new world order" in a speech. However, he did not coin that phrase.

Look at the back of a dollar bill. You will find there underneath the pyramid the words "NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM" which translates as "New World Order" or "A New Order Of The Ages" from Latin.

George H.W. Bush didn't put it there, either.

"Surgery on my knee in a few days..dreading it"

Oh, no! Bless your heart. I can understand why it's hard to concentrate.

Heck, if it were me, I don't know what I'd do. I hate surgery.

I wish you all the best and, please, let us know how you are getting along.

That and Brock's book and some other reviews and essays. She wanted to be her father's son...no doubt.

I pity her for that....and loathe her still.

I'm not partial to the term "early breeder," although I guess it applies to me personally, but not to my husband who's a decade my senior. He graduated from USNA and did his four years in USAF, then medical school so our traveling has always been done with children in tow.

Having little ones to raise is a grounding and babies do provide continuity to our lives. Take heart wardaddy, you'll have a string of grandchildren to always keep you and your wife "grounded to the whole spectrum of life."

We've been raising grandchildren for nearly ten years and they are the most enjoyable of all.

You made perfect sense. But, I think it's going to be a little different that you imagine.

It may be quieter on the crying front, but the 'noise' and the work load changes.

For instance, when my preteen grandson asked me what I thought about Britney Spears, not wanting to stomp on his opinion, I said I didn't know. He said that his mother didn't like her because she wore short skirts, and went on to say that he thought she looked really cute in short skirts.

I immediately said to myself "Yeeessss". The kid is straight! lol

My point is that it changes, and you can't stop it, so go with the flow and enjoy every minute of it.

lol....I didn't mean it like barefoot and preggers in a Dollar Store gingham dress with an apron...

I got a late start at 31 and the last (so far) was born on my 45th birthday....with 2 more in between.

I think 5 is a nice round number.

I pray everyday just to survive to help my wee lads make it to adulthood...for their sakes and selfishly for mine too of course.

I also pray not to survive my wife...unlikely since she is younger like you.

Nite!

Hi Chad, I read this when the article first went up and was in utter disgust. After reading it I understood why the moderators called for restraint, though some FReepers were justifiably unable to comply and had posts pulled. I told my father and he just shook his head. Hillary is not only a traitor, but she cares NOTHING for our brave troops. And I do NOT believe they gave her a standing ovation either. Once, when Clinton ( the bent one) came to a base the troops were given an option of attending. Later the brass had to COMMAND them to attend because the place was almost empty. No doubt these guys were TOLD to stand. Too bad they didn't have time to prepare "aged fruit" to "give" her ;)
